Ordinance - 1562ORDINANCE NO. 1562 • AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 19-42, 19-193(a), 20-31(c), 20-34(b), 23-36, 23-141 AND 23-194(a) OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION. WHEREAS, various sections of the West Covina Municipal Code make reference to the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction; and WHEREAS, said references are not uniform throughout the Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the Standard Specifications for Public Works Con- struction is adopted tri-annually by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the adoption of the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction would be facilitated by having uniform references to said Standard Specifications throughout the Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 19-42 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended by deleting the definition of "Standard Specifi- cations for Public Works Construction". SECTION 2. Section 19-193(a) of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Construction shall be done in accordance with the "Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction". SECTION 3. Section 20-31(c) of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction. SECTION 4. Section 20-34(b) of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: The Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction. SECTION 5. Section 23-36 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to have the sixth sentence thereof read as follows: All joints in clay pipe shall be made in accordance with Section 208-2 of the "Standard Specifications • for Public Works Construction". 0 • SECTION 6. Section 23-141 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: a) All cast iron pipe joints for house connection sewers shall be caulked and jointed with pig lead in accord- ance with Section 306-1.2.6 of the "Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction". b) Approved joint material for clay pipe shall be as specified in Section 208-2 of the "Standard Specifica- tions for Public Works Construction". SECTION 7. Section 23-194(a) of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: All materials used in any work done under provisions of this article shall be new, first-class material and shall conform to, and the manner of construction shall meet all the requirements prescribed by this article or by the "Standard Specifications for Public Works Con- struction" and shall be approved by the City Engineer before a certificate of final inspection will be issued. SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law. 1982.
