Ordinance - 1556ORDINANCE NO 1556 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA • AMENDING SECTION 22-188 RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF PARKING IN FIRE LANES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The West Covina Municipal Code, Chapter 22 entitled "Traffic Regulations" is hereby amended by changing Section "22=188, Subsection B.I. to read as follows: 1. A metal sign with minimum dimensions of twelve inches by eighteen inches shall be mounted on a metal post .in conformance with the City Engineer's Standard Drawings. SECTION 2. The West Covina Municipal Code, Chapter 22 entitled "Traffic Regulations" is hereby amended by changing Section :�224188_,, Subsection B.3. to read as follows: B. 3. Where there is no curbing adjacent to the lane the twenty-five foot access shall be marked • by a painted chrome -yellow line, two inches wide on each of the lanes as shown on the City Engineer's Standard Drawings. SECTION 3. The West Covina Municipal Code, Chapter 22 entitled "Traffic Regulations" is hereby amended by changing Section 22-188, Subsection B.4. to read as follows: 0 4. The surface of every lane shall bear the words "No Parking - Fire Lane" in chrome -yellow paint printed in letters at least twelve inches high with a two-inch stroke. The wording shall be spaced to cover the entire width of the lanes and each wording group shall not be located further than seventy-five lineal feet apart as shown on the City Engineer's Standard Drawings. Deviations from these posting requirements may be permitted by the traffic authority only upon showing that: SECTION 4. The West Covina Municipal Code, Chapter 22 entitled "Traffic Regulations" is hereby amended by changing Section 22-188, Subsection B.4.b. to read as follows: B. 4. b. An alternative method of posting will pro- vide substantially similar notice to the • U public. Approval procedures and posting requirements for apartments, condominiums and hospitals, delineating fire lanes by signs only, shall be in accordance with the City Engineer's Standard Drawings. The posting requirements set forth in sub- section B.1.2. and 3. of this section shall apply to fire lanes, established prior to the adoption of this section as well as those established subsequent thereto. SECTION 5. The*City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this 13th day of SaDfPm'hPr 1982.
