ORDINANCE NO. 1259
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA REPEALING SECTION 2125 OF THE
WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE
FILLING OF VACANCIES IN THE OFFICE OF CITY
COUNCILMEN AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF
TO TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2125 of the West Covina Municipal
Code is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. This ordinance is an urgency ordinance
necessary for the protection of the public peace, health and safety
and shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. The facts
constituting the urgency are: A member of the City Council of the
City of West Covina has been elected to the Congress of the United
States and has submitted his resignation as a City Councilman effective
November 25, 1974. The City of West Covina has just held an election
to fill a vacancy in the City Council and the person elected to fill
that vacancy will take office on December 9, 1974. In order to fill
the new vacancy at the earliest possible time and to avoid the expense
and inconvenience of another special election, it is necessary that
this ordinance be effective immediately.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
by law.

meeting of the City Council on the 25th day of November , 1974.

regular meeting of the City Council on the 25th day of November
1974, by the following vote, to wit:

NOES: Councilmen: None
