AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA REPEALING SECTION 8110.1 OF
THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS FOR BUILDINGS AND
` DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF TO TAKE EFFECT
IMMEDIATELY.

The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 8110.1 of the West Covina Municipal
Code is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. This ordinance is declared to be an ordinance
for the immediate protection of the public health, safety and general
welfare. The facts constituting the urgency are as follows: Section
8110.1 of the West Covina Municipal Code adds requirements to the
construction of multi -story buildings which are over and above the
requirements of the Uniform Building Code. These additional require-
ments have had a chilling effect upon the development of commercial
property and have been determined by the Fire Chief and the Director
of Building and Safety to be in excess of the requirements necessary
for the protection of the public health and safety. In order to
permit the orderly development of commercial areas of the City, it
is necessary that this ordinance be immediately effective.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
adoption.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
by law.
