AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA APPROVING THE ANNEXATION.TO THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY
DESIGNATED AS "WEST COVINA SOUTHEASTERLY ANNEXATION
DISTRICT NO. 217" PURSUANT TO A SPECIAL ELECTION
• HELD IN SAID TERRITORY ON FEBRUARY 6, 1973.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation Act of 1913", and
pursuant to Resclution No.4659 adopted by the City Council of the
City of West Covina on the 27th day of November , 1972, a special
election was held on the 6th day of February, 1973"1_in that certain in-
habited territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated
as "West Covina Southeasterly Annexation District No. 217" and
which is hereinafter more particularly described; and
WHEREAS, at said special election the question of the
annexation of said territory to the City of West Covina was sub-
mitted to the qualified electors residing in said territory; and
WHEREAS, it appears from the canvass of the returns of the
votes cast at said special election that a majority of all votes cast
in said territory on the question of said Annexation favor annexation
upon the terms contained in the question submitted; and
WHEREAS, it appears that said special election and all
proceedings relating thereto have been conducted strictly in
accordance with law;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West
Covina does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the annexation of that certain inhabited
territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated as "West
Covina Southeasterly Annexation District No. 217" be and the same
hereby is approved. Said territory is described as follows:
Those portions of Lot 116, Merced Avenue, and
Hollenbeck Street as per map of Tract No. 930 in the
County of Los Angeles, State of California, filed in
Book 17, Pages 38 and 39 of Maps on file in the office
of the County Recorder of said County, described as
follows:
Beginning at the southeasterly corner of that territory
designated as "West Covina Annexation District No. 121"
to the City of West Covina, as adopted by Ordinance No.
351 of said City, certified by the Secretary of State
of California on November 29, 1954; thence westerly,
southwesterly and westerly along the southerly boundary
of said territory the following described courses:
North-880 -56'-00"-West, 340.69 feet, South-600-43'-20"-
West, 415.60 feet, and South 840-24'-50"-West, 333.37
feet,to the easterly boundary of that territory des-
ignated as "West Covina Southeasterly Annexation District
. No. 136" to the City of West Covina, as adopted by
Ordinance No. 424 of said city, certified by the Secretary
of State of the State of California on October 28, 1955
thence southerly along said easterly boundary South-10-
04'-00"-West, 2.53 feet, to the southerly boundary of
said last mentioned territory; thence westerly along said
last mentioned southerly boundary North-880-57'-20"-West,
0.28 feet, to the northeasterly corner of that territory
designated as "West Covina Annexation District No. 123"
to the City of West Covina as adopted by Ordinance No.
354 of said city, certified by the Secretary of State
of the State of California on December 10, 1954; thence
southerly and southwesterly along the easterly boundary
of said last mentioned territory the followin described
courses:

South-1°-04l-00"-West, 218.42 feet, southwesterly along
a tangent curve.concave northwesterly and having a radius
of 150.00 feet through a central angle of 460-04'-00"
an arc distance of 120.60 feet, tangent to said curve,
South-470-08'-00"-West, 22.18 feet, and southwesterly
along a tangent curve concave southeasterly and having
a radius of 175.00 feet through a central angle of
150-56'-41" an arc distance of 48.70 feet, to the most
westerly northwesterly corner of that territory designated
as "West Covina Annexation District No. 130" to the City
of West Covina, as adopted by Ordinance No. 396 of said
city, certified by the Secretary of State of the State of
California on June 27, 1955; thence easterly, northeasterly,
and easterly along the northerly boundary of said last
mentioned territory the following described courses:
South-880-551-20"-East, 731.53 feet, North-350-461-1511-
East, 402.47 feet and South-77°-04'-20"-East, 50.o8
feet to the westerly line of Lot 30 of Tract No. 19658,
as per map filed in Book 524, pages 8 through 11 inclusive,
of Maps on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said county; thence northerly along the westerly boundary
of said last mentioned tract the..follovaing described
courses:
North-120-55t-40"-East, 67.89 feet, North-300-121-4011-
East, 202.84 feet and North-10-04'-00"-East to the point
of beginning.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
by law. Upon the effective date of this ordinance, the City Clerk
shall file a certified copy thereof with the Secretary of State of
the State of California and after such certified copy has been so
filed and the Cei�ti.ficate of the Secretary of State certifying to
its filing has been received by the City of West Covina, the City.
Clerk shall file with the County Recorder of the County of Los
Angeles the affidavit and documents required by Sections 34080 and
34081 of the Government Code and shall file a certified copy of the
map and boundary description of the annexed territory with the
County Engineer and the County Assessor of the County of Los Angeles
and with the State Board of Equalization of the State of California
and the Census Bureau of the United States government.
