AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
TO, INCORPORATING IN, AND MAKING A PART OF SAID
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CERTAIN TERRITORY OUTSIDE THE
SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO, KNOWN AS "SOUTHERLY
ANNEXATION NO. 214".
WHEREAS, on the 14th day of October, 1970, the Local
Agency Formation Commission of the County of Los Angeles approved
the annexation to the City of West Covina of the territory described
in Section 1 hereof and authorized the City to proceed with the
annexation without notice, hearing and election pursuant to Section
54797.1 of the Government Code, and
WHEREAS, on the 9th day of November , 1970, the City
Council found and determined—THat all of the owners of the land within
the territory described in Section 1 hereof have filed with the City
Clerk their consent in writing to such annexation, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina has
determined that the annexation to the City of West Covina of the
territory described in Section l hereof is in the best interest of
the City and the owners and inhabitants of said territory;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West
Covina does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1.. The annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of
which has been approved by the County Engineer of the County of Los
Angeles and the Local Agency Formation Commission of the County of
Los Angeles., and which territory was designated in the resolution of
the Local Agency Formation Commission as "Southerly Annexation No.
214", be and the same is hereby annexed to, incorporated in and made
a part of the City of West Covina, to wit:
Tract No. 29853 in the County of Los Angeles, State
of California, as per map filed in Book 795, pages 46
through 48 of Maps, in the office of the County
Recorder of said County and a portion of Nogales
Street, as shown on said map, lying easterly of and
adjoining said tract, described as follows:
Beginning at the centerline intersection of Nogales
Street (100.00 feet wide) and Valley View Avenue
(60.00 feet wide) as said centerlines are shown on said
map; thence North-50-07'-35"-East, along said centerline
eof Nogales Street 72.96 feet to its intersection with
the easterly prolongation of the southerly line of Lot
70 of said tract, said last mentioned intersection being
an angle point inithe boundary of the City of West
Covina as same,existed on August 24, 1970, said inter=
section also being the true point of beginning; thence
along said boundary North-860-10'-00"-West, 490.00
feet, South-30-47'-22"-14est, 258.52 feet and North-
790-00'-00"-West, 545.55 feet to the southwesterly
corner of said tract; thence North-30-50'-00" East,
625.46 feet to the most westerly northwesterly corner
of said tract; thence along the boundary of said tract
North-540-50'-00" East, 88.17 feet to the beginning of
a tangent curve, concave southeasterly and having a
radius of 110.00 feet; thence northeasterly along said
curve a distance of 74.87 feet through a central angle of
390-00'-0011; thence along a line tangent to said curve
South-860-101-00"-East, 124.66 feet to the beginning
of a tangent curve concave northwesterly and having a
radius,of 59.36 feet; thence northeasterly along said
last mentioned curve a distance of 78.74 feet through
a central angle of 760-W -00" to A point in the northerly
line of said tract, a radial line from said point bears
North-720-10'-00"-West; thence 8outh-860-10'-00"-East,
along the northerly line of said tract and its easterly
prolongation, a distance of 723.73 feet to said center-
line of Nogales Street; thence South-50-07'-35"-West,
along said last mentioned centerline 560.14 feet to the
true point of beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "Southerly Annexation No. 214".
SECTION 2. The territory hereby annexed to the City of
West Covina shall be a part of the City for all purposes from the
date of the filing with the County Recorder of the County of Los
Angeles of the affidavit of the completion of the annexation pro-
ceedings provided for in Sections 34o80 and 34081 of the Government
Code.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become operative on
January 10 1971.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance 1 cause the same to be published as required
SW#
by law. Upon the date of this ordinance, the City Clerk
shall file a certified copy thereof with the Secretary of State of
the State of California and after such certified copy has been so
filed and the Certificate of the Secretary of State certifying to
its filing has been received by the City of West Covina, the City
Clerk shall file with the County Recorder of the County of Los
Angeles the affidavit and documents required by Sections 34080 and
34081 of the Government Code and shall file a certified copy of the
map and boundary description of the annexed territory with the County
Engineer and the County Assessor of the County of Los Angeles and
with the State Board of Equalization of the State of California and
the Census Bureau of the United States government.
