ORDINANCE NO. 1125
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
TO, INCORPORATING IN, AND MAKING A PART OF SAID
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CERTAIN TERRITORY OUTSIDE THE
SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO, KNOWN AS "SOUTHERLY
ANNEXATION NO. 212".'
WHEREAS, on the loth day of December, 1969, the Local
Agency Formation Commission of the County of Los Angeles approved
the annexation to the City of West Covina of the territory described
in Section 1 hereof and authorized the City to proceed with the
annexation without notice, hearing and election pursuant to Section
54797.1 of the Government Code, and
WHEREAS, on the 13th day of April, 1970, the City Council
found and determined that all of the owners of the land within the
territory described in Section 1 hereof have filed with the City
Clerk their consent in writing to such annexation, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina has
determined that the annexation to the City of West Covina of the
territory described in Section 1 hereof is in the best interest of
the City and the owners and inhabitants of said territory;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West
Covina does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of
which has been approved by the County Engineer of the County of Los
Angeles and the Local Agency Formation Commission of the County of
Los Angeles, and which territory was designated in the resolution
of the Local Agency Formation Commission as "Southerly Annexation No.
212", be and the same is hereby annexed to, incorporated in and made
a part of the City of West Covina, to wit:
Those portions of Lot 1 of Tract No. 517 and Lot 1
of Tract 3163, in the County of Los Angeles, State
of California, as per maps filed in Book 15, page
16 and in Book 32, pages 74 and 75 of Maps, respectively,
in the office of the County Recorder of said County and
that portion of Pass and Covina Road, as shown on last
mentioned map; described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of
Maplegrove Street and the centerline of Valinda Avenue,
as said centerlines are shown on map of Tract No. 28882
filed in Book 786, pages 60 through 63 of Maps, in the
office of said County Recorder; thence along said center-
line of Maplegrove Street South 850 32' 59" East, 646.61
feet to the centerline of Pass and Covina Road, as said
centerline is shown on said map of Tract No. 28882;
thence South 280 16, 15" East along last mentioned
centerline, 587.28 feet to the westerly boundary line
of the City of West Covina as same existed on November
14, 1966; thence southerly, easterly and southerly along
the westerly and southerly boundaries of said City of
West Covina to the centerline of Amar Road being the
centerline of that certain 110 foot strip of land
described in Parcel 3-2 of deed to City of West Covina
recorded in Book D3007, page 251 of Official Records,
in the office of said County Recorder; thence northerly

and northwesterly along last mentioned centerline and
continuing northwesterly and westerly along the center-
line of Amar Road as last mentioned centerline is shown
on map of Tract No. 21408 filed in Book 558, pages 29
through 34 of Maps, in the office of said County Recorder
of a point, said point being distant South 850 33' 05"
East, 65.00 feet along last mentioned centerline from
the centerline of Valinda Avenue, 80.00 feet wide, as
shown on map of Tract No. 26762 filed in Book 686,
pages 85 through 92 of Maps, in the office of said
County Recorder; thence northerly, northwesterly,
northerly and westerly along the easterly and northerly
boundaries of said Tract No. 26762 to last mentioned
centerline of Valinda Avenue; thence northerly, along
first mentioned centerline of Valinda Avenue to the
point of beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "Southerly Annexation No. 212".
SECTION 2. The territory hereby annexed to the City of
West Covina shall be a part of the City for all purposes from the
date of the filing with the County Recorder of the County of Los
Angeles of the affidavit of the completion of the annexation pro-
ceedings provided for in Sections 34080 and 34081 of the Government
Code.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become operative on
June 30, 1970.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
• by law. Upon the operative date of this ordinance, the City Clerk
shall file a certified copy thereof with the Secretary of State of
the State of California and after such certified copy has been so
filed and the Certificate of the Secretary of State certifying to
its filing has been received by the City of West Covina, the City
Clerk shall file with the County Recorder of the County of Los Angeles
the affidavit and documents required by Sections 34080 and 34o81
of the Government Code and shall file a certified copy of the map
and boundary description of the annexed territory with the County
Engineer and the County Assessor of the County of Los Angeles and
with the State Board of Equalization of the State of California and
the Census'Bureau of the United States government.
