AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST.COVINA ADDING SECTION 8442 TO THE WEST COVINA
• MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TEMPORARY SIGNS
ADVERTISING PUBLIC INTEREST EVENTS.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as
• follows:
SECTION 1. Section 8442 is added to the West Covina
Municipal Code to read:
118442. TEMPORARY SIGNS ADVERTISING PUBLIC INTEREST EVENTS.
If the City Council finds that the public interest and
convenience will be served thereby, it may instruct the Building
Official to issue a special sign permit authorizing the erection
of a temporary sign or signs advertising a civic, patriotic or
special event of general public interest scheduled to take place
within the City.
No such special sign permit shall be issued until an
application therefor has been filed with the City Clerk speci-
fying:
(a) The location of the property upon which the sign will
be erected.

(b )
The
size of the sign.
(a)
The
materials from which the sign is to be constructed.

(d)
The
advertising copy to be used on the sign.
(e)
The
date upon which the sign is to be erected and the
date upon
which it is to be removed which shall not be more than
thirty days after the date of its erection.
The temporary sign permit shall require that the sign con-
form to the requirements of the first four paragraphs of sub-
division (g) of Section 8427. The permit shall also require that
the sign be removed by the owner, agent or person having the
beneficial use of the premises upon which it is erected within
thirty days of its erection."
SECTION 2. The.City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by
law.
