AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA AMENDING SECTION 6235.1 AND SUBPARAGRAPH
11 OF SECTION 6235.6 OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO BUSINESS LICENSES.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section 6235.1 of the West Covina Municipal Code
Is amended to read:
116235.1. CATEGORY CODE A.
Apartments, hotels, motels, mobile home parks, convalescent
homes, nursing homes, hospitals and businesses of a like nature or
similar character
Minimum of 40.00 per year for the first five units plus an
additional 13,00 per year for each unit over five in number.
Any hospital, the property of which is exempt from taxation
pursuant to Section 1 c of Article XIII of the Constitution of the
State of California, shall be exempt from the payment of the license
fee prescribed by this section. An application for exemption shall
be filed annually during the month of January. The application
shall declare whether or not the property of the hospital was
exempted from the payment of property taxes for the current fiscal
year. The City Clerk shall transmit the application to the City
Council. If the application meets the requirements for exemption,
the exemption shall be allowed by the City Council."
SECTION 2. Subparagraph 11 of Section 6235.6 of said code is
amended to read:
"11. Laundromats and Coin -Operated washers and dryers.
(a) Laundromat - Coin -Operated - $40.00/yr., plus
$1.00/yr. for each coin -operated machine over 30
in number.
(b) All other coin -operated washers and dryers -
1. Installed and maintained by the owner
of the property or his lessee - $1.00/yr.
for each machine.
2. Installed and maintained by an individual
or company not the owner or lessee of the
property - $45.00/yr. per individual or
company.
SECTION 3, The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law.
