ORDINANCE NO. 1074
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA AMENDING SECTION 8402 OF THE WEST
COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO ADVERTISING
SIGNS.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1, Section 8402 of the West Covina Municipal
Code is amended to read:
118402. AFFIXING SIGNS ON CURBS, STREETS OR STREET
SIGNS UNLAWFUL.
No person shall paint, mark, paste, fasten, or
in any other manner affix to or cause to be painted,
marked, pasted, fastened or in any other manner
affixed to or on any curb, street, sidewalk, lamp
post, street sign post, bench, trash receptacle, or
any sign erected for the purpose of directing or
warning traffic or to or on any telephone, telegraph,
or electric light pole, tree or shrub in any park,
public street, alley, parkway or sidewalk, any sign,
poster or advertisement of any kind, or erect or
place or cause to be erected or placed any such sign,
poster or advertisement upon any public street,
alley, parkway or other public property, without
first obtaining a written permit so to do from the
City Council, or erect or place or cause to be erected
or placed any such sign or advertisement upon any
private premises or property without the written
consent of the owner or occupant or person in charge
thereof, and without first obtaining a certificate in
writing from the Planning Director that the sign or
advertisement is permitted within the zone which is
applicable to the premises or property, provided
that nothing in this Section contained shall be so
construed as to prohibit the erection and maintenance
of official warnings or direction signs by any
department of the City or to legal notices posted in
the places and manner prescribed by law."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as
required by law.
