AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA AMENDING SECTION 6235.5
OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING
TO BUSINESS LICENSES FOR CONTRACTORS.

The City Council of the City of hest Covina does ordain
as follows. -
SECTION 1. Section 6235.5 of the West Covina Municipal
Code is amended to read:
6235.5 CATEGORY CODE C. Contractors.
1. General contractors and all other contractors-
$50.00 per year.
2. In addition every contractor shall pay as a part of
his business license, a job fee for all work per-
formed under permit issued by the City which shall
be a sum equal to the permit fee.
• The job fee shall be due and payable at the time
of issuance of the permit and shall be paid at
the same time the permit fee is paid.
If a general contractor has paid a job fee covering
all work to be done under a contract, no additional
job fee will be due or payable by a subcontractor
to whom a permit is issued for work to be done on
that job under the jurisdiction of the general con-
tractor.
3. As used in this sction, 'permit, includes a building
permit, an electrical permit, a plumbing permit, a
sewer permit, a relocation or demolition permit and
any permit issued for work to be performed in a
public street
4. An owner -builder shall be exempt from the payment of
any license fee or job fee, if all the work performed
under a permit is done exclusively by him upon his
own property.
5. From July 1 to December 31, 1968 and annually there-
after a contractor is entitled to credit against the
amount of any job fees due and payable by him under
this section the amount of the license fee actually
paid by him for such year.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become operative on July
1, 1968. Any contractor who applied for and received an annual
business license on and after January 1, 1968 need not apply for
a new license under Section 6235.5 of the West Covina Municipal

Code, as amended, for the balance of the calendar year. How-
ever after he has received credit .in. the amount of the
annual license fee actually paid by him, the licensee shall
be obligated to pay the job fees provided for in Section
6235.5 for all work performed under permits issued on and
after July 1, 1968.
Any general contractor who paid a $100.00 annual
license fee for a contractors license for the calendar
year 1968, shall on or after July 1, 1968 be entitled to
a refund of one-half of the amount of the license fee actually
paid by him. Claims for refunds under this section shall
be approved by the City Clerk and allowed and paid as other
claims against the City are allowed and paid..
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be
published as required by law.
