Ordinance - 982ORDINANCE NO. 982 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE ZONING CHAPTER OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO PIGEONS. (AMENDMENT NO. 76) The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as • follows: SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby find, determine and declare that the following amendments were duly initiated, that notice of hearings thereon was duly given and published, that public hearings thereon were duly held by the Planning Commission and City Council, and that the public convenience and necessity and the general welfare require that the following amendments be made. SECTION 2. Section 9203 (d) 2 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2. Poultry and pigeons, provided not more than 24 birds are maintained on any lot or parcel, except that a maximum of 60 domestic homing pigeons as defined by the American Pigeon Racing Union may be kept on any lot or parcel." SECTION 3. Section 9203 (d) 5 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "5. Poultry and animals, except household pets and domestic homing pigeons as above defined, shall not be kept or maintained within fifty feet of any dwelling or building used for human habitation, nor shall any pen, coop, stable, barn or corral be • maintained within forty feet of any portion of adjoining property, except that pens, coops or lofts for domestic homing pigeons as above defined may be kept or maintained not closer than 35 feet from any dwelling or building used for human habitation and not closer than 5 feet from any rear property line or 2 feet from any side property line." SECTION 4. Section 9204 (d) 2 of the West Covina Municipal 'Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2. Poultry, hens only, pigeons, rabbits, chinchillas, hamsters, and other small animals, all raised for domestic non- commercial use provided not more than twenty-four of such animals or birds may be maintained on a site, except that a maximum of 60 domestic homing pigeons as defined by the American Pigeon Racing Union may be kept on any one site." SECTION 5. Section 9204 (d) 4 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "4. Poultry and animals, except household pets and domestic homing pigeons as above defined, shall not be kept or maintained within fifty feet of any dwelling or building used for human habi- tation, nor shall any pen, coop, stable, barn or corral be main- tained within forty feet of any portion of adjoining property, except that pens, coops or lofts for domestic homing pigeons as • above defined may be kept or maintained not closer than 35 feet from any dwelling or building used for human habitation and not closer than 5 feet from any rear property line or 2 feet from any side property line." SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and cause the same to be published as required by law.
