AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA AMENDING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE
"VEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RENTING TO YARDS.
The City Council of the City of 'West Covina does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby find, determine
and declare that the following amendments were duly initiated, that
notice of hearing thereon was duly given and published, that public
hearings thereon were duly held by the Planning Commission and City
Council, and that the public convenience and necessity and the general
welfare require that the following amendments be made.
SECTION 2. The definitions of "YARD, FRONT", "YARD,REAR",
and "YARD, SIDE" contained in Section 9201 of the West Covina Municipal
Code are amended to read, respectively, as follows:
"YARD, FRONT. A required yard extending across the full
width of the lot or -parcel of land. The depth of a required
front yard shall be a specified horizontal distance between the
front lot line and a line parallel thereto on the lot or parcel
of land. Said distance shall be measured by a line at right
angles to the front lot line, or by the radial line in the case
of a curved front lot line. When a lot lies partially within a
planned street indicated on a precise plan for such a street,
and where such planned street is of the type that will afford
legal access to such lot, the depth of the front yard shall be
measured from the contiguous edge of such planned street in the
manner prescribed in this definition.

required side yard shall be a specified horizontal distance
measured from, and at right angles to the nearest point of a side
lot line toward a line parallel thereto."
SECTION 3. Section 9203.4 of the West Covina Municipal Code
is amended to read as follows:
119203.4• REAR YARD: Every lot in the R-A Zone shall have a
required rear yard of twenty-five feet."
SECTION 4. Section 9204.4 of the West Covina Municipal Code
is amended to read as follows
119204.4. REAR YARD: Every lot in the R-1 Zone shall have a
required rear yard of twenty-five feet."
•SECTION 5. Section 9220.8 of the West Covina Municipal Code
is amended to read as follows:
"9220.8. SAME. PERMISSIBLE COVERAGE OF REQUIRED YARDS.
In R-A and R-1 Zones, sixty percent of the required rear
yard shall remain open; and the remaining forty percent of the
required rear yard may be covered by single story construction,
provided that the portion of the lot covered by structures shall
not exceed thirty percent of the total area of the lot if any
portion of the main building extends into the required rear yard.
In said zones detached garages may be permitted in side yards
behind the rear line of the main building on the lot or parcel."
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by
law.

the City Council on the 27th day of September , 1965. That,
thereafter, said ordinance was duly adopte3 and passed at a regular adjourned
meeting of the City Council on the 18th day of October , 1965,
by the following vote, to wit:
