Ordinance - 915ORDINANCE NO. 915 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA AMENDING THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROHIBIT FORTUNE TELLING, PALMISTRY, AND SIMILAR PRACTICES. The City Council of the City of 'West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended by the addition thereto of a. new Section 4133 reading as follows: 114133. FORTUNE TELLING, PALMISTRY, ETC. No person shall carry on the practice or profess to practice the business or art of astrology,phrenology, life reading, fortune telling, cartomancy, clairvoyance, clair- audiance, crystal gazing, hypnotism, mesmerism, oriental mysteries, palmistry, spirit photography, spirt writing, spirit voices, spirit materialism, etherealization, numerology, physiognomy, psychometry, seership, prophecy, augery, divination, magic or necromancy or other similar art or business, who demands or receives, directly or indirectly, a fee or reward, or who accepts any donation for the exercise or exhibition of his art therein or who gives any exhibition thereof at any place where an admission fee, donation or reward is charged or received, directly or indirectly, or who teaches or gives instruction in any such art or business and demands or receives, directly or indirectly, a fee or reward, or who accepts any donation • for such teaching or instruction." SECTION 2. Section 6236 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended by the deletion therefrom of the following words: "fortune telling, clairvoyants and kindred practices". SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law. Passed and approved STATE OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES SS.
