AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
TO, INCORPORATING IN AND MAKING A PART OF SAID CITY
OF WEST COVINA, CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
OUTSIDE THE SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO,
KNOWN AS "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 188".
WHEREAS, under and pursuant to and in accordance with the
provisions of the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 193911, as
amended, on the 25th day of September, 1964, a petition signed by the
owners of not less than one-fourth of the land in the hereinafter des-
cribed territory, by area and by assessed value as required by law was
duly filed with the City Council of the City of West Covina, requesting
the annexation to the said City of the uninhabited territory hereinafter
described; and
WHEREAS, said proposed annexation was submitted to and
reported upon favorably by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County
with respect to the definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries
of said territory, pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of
the State of California, and the said annexation has been approved by the
Local Agency Formation Commission of said County; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did on November 30, 1964, at a
regular meeting thereof duly adopt a resolution giving notice of the
proposed annexation, which resolution specifically described the boundaries
of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of West Covina,
and designated the same as "Southerly Annexation District No. 188"; and
WHEREAS, said resolution was duly published in accordance with
•law, which said resolution contained a notice of the day, hour and place
when and where the City Council would hear protests made by any person
owning real property within the territory proposed to be annexed, and
said publications were complete twenty days prior to the date of such
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk did, not less than twenty days before
the public hearing on the proposed annexation, cause a written notice,
in accordance with the provisions of the Government Code, of said pro-
posed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the
territory proposed to be annexed is assessed on the last preceding
equalized County Assessment Roll available on the date the proceedings
were initiated, at the address shown on said assessment roll; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina set such
hearing for a date not less than forty days nor more than sixty days
from the date of the adoption of such resolution, to wit: for 8:00 o1clock
P.M. on January 11, 1965, before said City Council at the City Hall, West
Covina; and
WHEREAS, at the time set aforesaid, to wit: January 11, 1965,
at 8:00 ovclock P.M. of said day, said matter duly came before said City
Council at a regular meeting thereof for hearing, said hearing was duly
opened, and was continued to February 8, 1965, and a majority protest
not having been presented against said proposed annexation in accordance
with Section 35313 of the Government Code, and the Council having so found
• and declared by resolution adopted February 8, 1965; and
WHEREAS, the property and territory hereinafter specifically
described is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City of West Covina
and is uninhabited within the meaning of Section 35303 of the said Govern-
ment Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of 'West Covina
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of which
was submitted to and duly approved by the Boundary Commission of Los
Angeles County as to definiteness and certainty, and which territory was
designated in the resolution and notice of said City Council as "Southerly
Annexation District No. 18811, be and the same is hereby ordained to be
annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of the City of West Covina,
to wit:
Those portions of Lots 319, 335, 336, 337, 353 and
354, all in E. J. Baldwin's Fifth Subdivision of a
Portion of Rancho La Puente in the County of Los
Angeles, State of California, as per map thereof
recorded in Book 12, Pages 134 and 135, of Maps, in
the office of the County Recorder of said County,
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the northerly line
of Tract No. 21078, as per map thereof recorded in
Book 587, Pages 1 through 4, inclusive, of Maps,
records of said County, with the northeasterly
boundary line of Lot 12 in said Tract No. 21078, as
said intersection is shown on said map of Tract No.
21078; thence along the boundary lines of said
Tract No. 21078, South 29° 38, 15" East, 234.58 feet
to an angle point therein; thence, South 600 211 45"
West, 448.04 feet to an angle point therein; thence,
South 190 41, 49" East, 65.24 feet to an angle point
therein; thence, South 300 20t 40" East, 471.87 feet
to an angle point therein; thence, South 41 46, 11"
East, 88.60 feet to an angle point therein; thence,
South 530 081 51" East, 659.44 feet to an angle point
• therein; thence, South 340 52' 35" West, 558.46 feet
to an angle point therein, last said angle point
also being a point in the southerly line of said
Lot 354 of E. J. Baldwin's Fifth Subdivision of a
portion of Rancho La Puente; thence along the
southerly line of said Lot 354 and its easterly
prolongation South 740 181 25" East to an intersection
with the easterly line of Azusa Avenue, 60.00 feet
wide, as said avenue is shown on said map of Tract
No. 21078; thence along the easterly line of said
Azusa Avenue, North 00 40, 00" East to an intersection
with the easterly prolongation of the northerly line
of said Lot 319 of E. J. Baldwin's Fifth Subdivision
of a portion of Rancho La Puente; thence along said
easterly prolongation and northerly line of said
Lot 319, North 890 20, 40" West to the point of
beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "Southerly Annexation District
No. 188".
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the West
Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published and circu-
lated in the City of West Covina, and thirty days from and after the
final passage thereof shall file a certified copy thereof with the
Secretary of State of the State of California, and after such certified
copy has been so filed, and a certificate of the Secretary of State
certifying to its filing has been received by the City of West Covina,
the City Clerk shall file a copy of the map of said territory with the
following: The County Surveyor of Los Angeles County, the County

of Los Angeles, the County Assessor of said County; the County Engineer
of said County; the Board of Equalization of the State of California,
and the Census Bureau of the United States Government.
