AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
TO, INCORPORATING IN AND MAKING A PART OF SAID CITY
OF WEST COVINA, CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY OUTSIDE
THE SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO KNOWN AS
"SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 1kir.
. WHEREAS, under and pursuant to and in accordance with the
provisions of the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939",as
amended, the City Council of the City of West Covina, in due course, on
its own motion, initiated proceedings for the annexation to the said City
of the uninhabited territory hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, the same was submitted to and reported upon favorably
by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County with respect to the
definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries of said territory,
pursuant to Section,35002 of the Government Code of the State of Cali-
fornia; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did on June 24, 1963, at a
regular meeting thereof duly adopt a resolution initiating said pro-
ceedings and giving notice of the proposed annexation, which resolution
specifically described the boundaries of the territory so proposed to
be annexed to the City of West Covina, and designated the same as
"Southerly Annexation District No. 181"; and
WHEREAS, said resolution was duly published in accordance
with law, which said resolution contained a notice of the day, hour and
place when and where the City Council would hear protests made by any
person owning real property within the territory proposed to be annexed,
and said publications were complete twenty days prior to the date of such
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk did, not less than twenty days before
the public hearing on the proposed annexation, cause a written notice, in
accordance with the provisions of the Government Code, of said proposed
annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory
proposed to be annexed is assessed on the last preceding equalized County
Assessment Roll available on the date the proceedings were initiated, at
the address shown on said assessment roll; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina set
such hearing for a date not less than forty days nor more than sixty
days from the date of the adoption of such resolution, to -wit: for
8:00 o'clock P.M. on August 12, 1963, before said City Council at the
City Hall, West Covina; and
WHEREAS, at the time set aforesaid, to -wit: August 12, 1963,
at 8:00 o'clock P.M. of said day, said matter duly came before said City
Council at a regular meeting thereof for hearing, said hearing was duly
held, and a majority protest not having been presented against said pro-
posed annexation in accordance with Section 35313 of the Government Code,
and the Council having so found and declared by resolution adopted August
12, 1963; and
WHEREAS, the property and territory hereinafter specifically
described is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City.of West Covina
_ and is uninhabited within the meaning of Section 35303 of the said Govern-
ment Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does ordain as follows:

SECTION 1. That the annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of which
was submitted to and duly approved by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles
County as to definiteness and certainty, and which territory was desig-
nated in the resolution and notice of said City Council as "Southerly
Annexation District No. 18111, be and the same is hereby ordained to be
annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of the City of West Covina,
to -wit:
That portion of Rancho La Puente, in the County of Los
Angeles, State of California, designated as Lot No. 1,
1769.46A on the map showing the partition of a portion
of said Rancho made by the Referees appointed in Los
Angeles County Superior Court Case No. 31298, and
titled Euxpere Sentous and Vincent Sentous vs. Louis
Sentous and filed by said Referees with their report,
a certified copy of which map is recorded in book 1260
page 163 of Deeds, records of said County and a portion
of Lot 10, Tract No. 517 in said County and State as
per map recorded in book 15 page 16 of Maps records of
said County described as a whole as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the Westerly boundary
line of the City of West Covina as same existed on
May 10, 1963, with the Southerly line of said Lot No.
1, said intersection being a point distant thereon South
890 58' 25" East 915.11 feet from the Southwesterly
corner thereof; thence along said Southerly line North
890 58' 25" 'West 915.11 feet to said Southwesterly
corner; thence along the Westerly line of said last
mentioned lot North 60 29 t oW, West 4148.10 feet to
an angle point therein; thence North 280 16, 00" West
• 521.82 feet to the most Northerly corner of that certain
parcel of land described in deed to Roman Catholic Arch-
bishop of Los Angeles, recorded in book 49823 page 383 of
Official Records, records of said County; thence along
the Northerly boundary of said parcel of land South 610
29, 45" West 753.79 feet to an angle point therein;
thence continuing along said Northerly boundary North
750 18, 15" West 833.82 feet to the Easterly line of
Pass and Covina Road, 60.00 feet wide, as shown on map
of said Tract No. 517; thence along said Easterly line
North 180 021 25" East 1888.99 feet to said Westerly line
of Lot No. 1; thence along said Westerly line and Easterly
line of said Pass and Covina Road North 280 16, 00" West
4035.47 feet to the most Westerly corner of said Lot No.
1; thence along the Northerly line of said last mentioned
lot North 640 251 17" East 2778.81 feet to an angle point
therein- thence continuing along said Northerly line
South 740 341 58" East to an angle point in said boundary
line of the City of West Covina; thence Easterly and
Southerly along said last mentioned boundary line to the
point of beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "Southerly Annexation District No.
181".
SECTION 2.. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of

this ordinance, and prior to the expiration of 'fifteen days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the West
Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published and circulated
in the City of West Covina, and thirty days from and after the final pas-
sage thereof shall file a certified copy thereof with the Secretary of
State of the State of California, and after such certified copy has been

so filed, and a certificate of the Secretary of State certifying to its
filing has been received by the City of Nest Covina, the City Clerk shall
-file a copy of the map of said territory with the following: The County
Surveyor of Los Angeles County, the County Recorder of Los Angeles County;
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, the County Assessor
of said County; the County Engineer of said County; the Board of Equali-
zation of the State of California, and the Census Bureau of the United
States Government. •
