AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
TO, INCORPORATING IN AND MAKING A PART OF SAID CITY
OF WEST COVINA, CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY OUTSIDE
THE SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO, KNOWN AS
"SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 177".
•WHEREAS, under and pursuant to and in accordance with the
provisions of the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 193911, as
amended, the City Council of the City of West Covina, in due course,
received a good and valid petition initiating proceedings for the annexa-
tion to the said City of the uninhabited territory hereinafter described;
and
WHEREAS, the same was submitted to and reported upon favorably
by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County with respect to the
definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries of said territory,
pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of Cali-
fornia; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did on October 81 1962, at a
regular meeting thereof duly adopt a resolution giving notice of the
proposed annexation, which resolution specifically described the boundaries
of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of West Covina,
and designated the same as "Southerly Annexation District No. 177"; and
WHEREAS, said resolution was duly published in accordance
with law, which said resolution contained a notice of the day, hour and
place when and where the City Council would hear protests made by any
person owning real property within the territory proposed to be annexed,
and said publications were complete twenty days prior to the date of such
• hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk did, not less than twenty days before
the public hearing on the proposed annexation, cause a written notice,
in accordance with the provisions of the Government Code, of said pro-
posed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the
territory proposed to be annexed is assessed on the last preceding
equalized County Assessment Roll available on the date the proceedings
were initiated, at the address shown on said assessment roll; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina set
such hearing for a date not less than forty days nor more than sixty
days from the date of the adoption of such resolution, to -wit: for 8:00
o'clock P.M. on November-13, 1962, before said City Council at the City
Hall, West Covina; and
WHEREAS., at the time set aforesaid, to -wit: November 13,
1962, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. of said day, said matter duly came before
said City Council at a regular meeting thereof for hearing, at which
time said hearing was duly held, and a majority protest not having been
presented against said proposed annexation in accordance with Section
35313 of the Government Code, and the Council having so found and
declared by resolution adopted November 13, 1962; and
WHEREAS, the property and territory hereinafter specifically
described is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City of West
Covina and is uninhabited within the meaning of Section 35303 of said
Government Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does ordain as follows:

SECTION 1. That the annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of which
was submitted to and duly approved by the Boundary Commission of Los
Angeles County as to definiteness and certainty, and which territory was
designated in the resolution and notice of said City Council as "Southerly
Annexation District No. 17711, be and the same is hereby ordained to be
annexed to, incorporated in, and made apart of the City of West Covina,
to -wit:
Beginning in a point in the Southerly line of Lot 19
of Tract No. 930 as per map recorded in Book 17 Pages
38 and 39 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder
of Los Angeles County, distant thereon South 880 56, 00"
East 630.00 feet from the Southwest corner of said Lot 19,
said point being the Northeast corner of Tract No. 20195
as per map recorded in Book 567 Pages 28 and 29 of Maps,
in the office of the County Recorder of said County, said
Southerly line also being the Southerly line of Tract No.
18205 as'per map recorded in Book 490 Pages 30 to'32
inclusive of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder
of said County, said Southerly line also being the Southerly
boundary of the City of West Covina as the same existed
on August 13, 1962; thence South 1� 041 00" West along
the Easterly line of said Tract No. 20195 and its Southerly
prolongation, a distance of 660 feet to the Southeasterly
corner of the land conveyed to Q. E. Bashore and wife, as
described in deed recorded in Book 12157 Page 56 of Official
Records, in the office of the County Recorder of said County;
thence North 880 56, 00" West along the Southerly line of
the land of said Bashore, 630 feet to the Southwesterly
corner thereof, said Southwesterly corner being a point
in the Westerly line of Lot 116 of said Tract No. 930;
• thence South 1 04, 00" West along said Westerly line
2377.69 feet, more or less, to the Southwesterly corner
of said Lot 116, said Southwesterly corner being the
Southwesterly corner of the land described as Parcel 1
in Deed to Emil G. Galster, recorded February 21, 19442
as Instrument No. 305 in Book 20612 Page 319 of Official
Records on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County; thence South 730 541 20" East along the
Southerly line of the land conveyed to said Galster, to
a point on the Westerly line of Parcel 2 as shown on L.A.C.A.
Map No. 57 recorded in Book 1 Page 5 of Assessor's Maps on
file in the office of the County Recorder of said County,
said point being an angle point in the boundary line of
the City of West Covina as same existed on August 13, 1962;
thence continuing South 730 541 20" East along said boundary
line of the City of West Covina and the Southerly line of
the land of said Galster,-to the Southeasterly corner of the
land of said Galster, said Southeasterly corner being an
angle point in said City boundary line; thence North 10
04, 00" East along the Easterly line of the land of said
Galster and said boundary line of the City of West Covina
to a point distant thereon South 1° 041 00" West 260.78
feet from the Northeasterly corner of the land of said
Galster, said point being an angle point in said boundary
line of the City of West Covina; thence ka.sterly, Northerly,
Westerly and Southerly along said boundary lines of the
City of West Covina, the following courses and distances:
South 88° 56, 00" East 373.87 feet; thence North 180 09,
33" East 632.74 feet; thence North 48° 171 30" West 80.00
feet; thence South 860 421 30" West 178.00 feet; thence
North 57° 001 30" West 56.78 feet; thence South 800 381

City of West Covina; thence Westerly along said boundary
line of the City of West Covina to the point of beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "Southerly Annexation District No.
17711.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance,.and prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the West
Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published and circu-
lated in the City of nest Covina, and thirty days from and after the
final passage thereof shall file a certified copy thereof with the Secre-
tary of State of the State of California, and after such certified copy
has been so filed, and a certificate of the Secretary of State certi-
fying to its filing has been received by the City of West Covina, the
City Clerk shall file a copy of the map of said territory with the fol-
lowing: The County Surveyor of Los Angeles County; the County Recorder
of Los Angeles County; the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles, the County Assessor of said County; the County Engineer of
said County; the Board of Equalization of the State of California., an d
the Census Bureau of the United -States Government.
