Ordinance - 729ORDINANCE NO. 729 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF WEST COVINA OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "WEST COVINA SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO 169" PURSUANT TO A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID TERRITORY ON THE 28TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1961 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the Legis- lature of the State of California, known as the "Annexation Act of 191311, and pursuant to Resolution No. 2201 adopted by the CityCouncil of the City of West Covina on the 27th day of Septem- ber, 1961, a special election was held on the 28th day of November, 1.961, in that certain inhabited territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated as "West Covina Southerly Annexation District No. 169" and which is hereinafter more particularly described; and WHEREAS, at said special election the question of the annexation of said territory to the City of West Covina was sub- mitted to the qualified electors residing in said territory; and WHEREAS, it appears from the canvass of the returns of the votes cast at said special election that a majority of all votes cast in said territory on the question of said Annexation favor annexation upon the terms contained in the question sub- mitted; and WHEREAS, it appears that said special election and all proceedings relating thereto have been conducted strictly in accordance with law; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That the annexation of that certain inhabited territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated as "West Covina Southerly Annexation District No. 169" be and the same hereby is approved. Said territory is described as follows: DESCRIPTION All of the property in the County of Los Angeles, State of 'California, lying within the following described boundaries: Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line of California Avenue, 60 feet wide, as shown by map of Tract No. 22084, in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, recorded in Book 596, at pages 4 and-5 of Maps, on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County, with the center line of Francisquito Avenue, 70 feet wide, as shown by said tract map, said point being an angle point in the southeasterly boundary line of the City of West Covina, as it existed on April 24, 1961; thence southeasterly along said last mentioned center line to a point in the southwesterly prolongation of the southeasterly line of said tract, and a point in the northwesterly boundary line of the City of La Puente, as it existed on April 24, 1961; thence northeasterly along said southwesterly prolongation, southeasterly tract line, and northwesterly boundary line, to a point in the boundary line of the City of West Covina, as it existed on April 24, 1961; thence northwesterly and south- westerly along said boundary line of the City of West Covina, in all its various courses to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall publish the same once in the West Covina Tribune. Passed and approved this 26th day of December, 1961.
