Ordinance - 723ORDINANCE NO, 723 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF WEST COVINA OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "WEST COVINA SOUTHWESTERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 168" PURSUANT TO A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID TERRI- TORY ON THE 26TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1961 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the Legis- lature of the State of California, known as the "Annexation Act of 191311, and pursuant to Resolution No. 2153 adopted by the City Council of the City of West Covina on the 24th day of July, 1961, a special election was held on the 26th day of September, 1961, in that certain inhabited territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated as "West Covina Southwesterly Annexation Dist- rict No. 168" and which is hereinafter more particularly described; and WHEREAS, at said special election the question of the annexation of said territory to the City of West Covina was sub- mitted to the qualified electors residing in said territory; and WHEREAS, it appears from the canvass of the returns of the votes cast at said special election that a majority of all votes cast in said territory on the question of said Annexation favor annexation upon the terms contained in the question submitted; and WHEREAS, it appears that said special election and all pro- ceedings relating thereto have been conducted strictly in accord- ance with law; NOW, THEREFORE, theCity Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That the annexation of that certain inhabited territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated as "West Covina Southwesterly Annexation District No. 168" be and the same hereby is approved. Said territory is described as follows DESCRIPTION All of that property in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, lying within the following des- ctibed boundaries:: Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line of Willow Avenue, 60 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No. 19064, in the City of West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State of California, recorded in Book 587, at pages 36 and 37 of Maps, on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County, with the southwesterly boundary line of the City of West Covina, as it existed on March 16, 1961; thence • Southwesterly along said center line, to a point of intersection with the center line of Francisquito Avenue, as shown on map of Tract No. 21016, in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, recorded in Book 623, at pages 24 and 25 of Maps, on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County; thence southeasterly along said last mentioned center line to a point of intersection with the northwesterly boundary line of the City of West Covina, as it existed on March 16, 1961; thence northeasterly and northwesterly along the northwesterly and south- westerly boundary lines of the City of West Covina, . in all of its various courses to the point of begin- ning; known as "'Southwesterly Annexation No. 168" SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall publish the same once in the West Covina Tribune. Passed and approved thisl9th day of October, 1961.
