AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA APPROVING
THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF WEST COVINA OF CERTAIN
INHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "WEST COVINA
EASTERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 165" PURSUANT TO
A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID TERRITORY ON THE
9th DAY OF AUGUST, 1960.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the Legis-
lature of the State of California, known as the "Annexation Act of 1913",
a special election was held on the 9th day of August, 1960, in that
certain inhabited territory contiguous to the City of West Covina desig-
nated as "West Covina Easterly Annexation District No. 165" and which
is hereinafter more particularly described; and
WHEREAS, at said special election the question of the annexa-
tion of said territory to the City of West Covina was submitted to the
qualified electors residing in said territory; and
WHEREAS, it appears from the canvass of the returns of the
votes cast at said special election that a majority of all votes cast
in said territory on the question of said annexation favor annexation
upon the terms contained in the question submitted; and
WHEREAS, it appears that said special election and all pro-
ceedings relating thereto have been conducted strictly in accordance
with law;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the annexation of that certain inhabited
territory contiguous to the City of West Covina designated as "West
Covina Easterly Annexation District No. 165" be -and the same hereby
is approved. Said territory is described as follows:
That portion of the unincorporated area of the County of Los Angeles!
State of California, described as followss
Beginning at the intersection of the easterly boundary line of the City
of West Covina as same existed on March 10, 1960, in said County, with
the southerly boundary line of said City as same existed on said date,
said point being also the intersection of the southerly line of Annexation
No. 1029 adopted by Ordinance No. 196 of said City with the easterly line
of Easterly Addition No. 2 of said City, adapted by Ordinance NO* 69 of
said City; thence easterly along said southerly boundary line to the first
angle point therein; thence southerly in a direct line to the moat westerly
southwesterly corner of the land cveyed to the State of California by
deed recorded in Book 45650 page 206 of Official Records, in the office of
the County Recorder of said County; thence along the southwesterly and
westerly lines of said land and the southerly prolongation thereof, South

That on the 17th day of October, 1960, pursuant to the provisions
of the "Annexation Act of 1913," more particularly Sections 35142, 35144
and 35145 of the Government Code, annexation papers were received in V7
office and filed in the official records thereof, as follows:
1. A_Certificate signed by Robert Flotten, City Clerk of the
City of West Covina, setting forth:
August 9, 1960, as the date of the special
election held in certain contiguous territory on
the question of annexation thereof to said City;
August 22, 1960, as the date of the canvass of
the returns of said election by the legislative
body of said City;
The results of such canvass, from which it appears
that of the 52 votes cast there were 33 in favor
of adoption of the annexation proposition and 19
against adoption thereof;
A.description of the boundaries of the territory.
2. A.certified copy of Ordinance No. 676 as regularly passed
and adopted on the 12th day of September, 1960, approving and
ordering the annexation to the CITY OF WEST COVINA of that
inhabited territory in which the aforementioned election was
held and designating such territory as:.
"West Covina Easterly Annexation
District No. 165".
