AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA AMENDING CERTAIN OF THE ZONING PROVISIONS
OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO USES
PERMITTED IN THE C-1 ZONE AND TO PRIVATE CLUBS,
FRATERNITIES, SORORITIES AND LODGES.
•The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby find, determine
and declare that the following amendments were duly initiated, that
notice of hearing thereon was duly given and published, that public
hearings thereon were duly held by the Planning Commission and City
Council, and that the public convenience and necessity and the general
welfare require that the following changes and amendments be made.
SECTION 2. Section 9211 of the West Covina Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"9211. NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL ZONE (C-1 ZONE). USES.
In a C-1 Zone no building shall be erected, reconstructed
or structurally altered, nor shall any building or land be used
for any purpose except those first permitted in the C-1 Zone as
follows, subject to the provisions of Part 19 of this Chapter
governing off-street parking requirements:
a Bakery
b Bank, financial institutions
c Barber shop or beauty parlor
d Book or stationery store
e Confectionery store
f Dressmaking or millinery shop
g Drug store
h Dry goods or notions store
i Florist and nursery, sales of gardening materials,
including packaged fertilizer, insecticides, etc.
but excluding storage and use of composts, bulk
fertilizer and potting cans
j Grocery or fruit store
k Hardware store
1 Jewelry store
m Laundry or clothes cleaning agency
n Liquor store (off -sale)
o Meat markets or delicatessen store
p Office, business or professional
q Real Estate Agencies
r Restaurant, tea room or cafe, including on -sale liquor
s Shoe store or repair shop
t Tailor, clothing or wearing apparel shop
u Similar establishments catering directly to consumers."
SECTION 3. Section 9209 of the West Covina Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
119209. BUSINESS RESIDENTIAL ZONE (R-4 ZONE). PERMITTED
USES.
In the R-4 Zone no building shall be erected, reconstructed
or structurally altered, nor shall any building or land be used
for any purpose except as hereinafter specifically provided and
allowed by this Part, subject to the provisions'of Part 19 of

this Chapter governing off-street parking requirements. In
the R-4 Zone the following uses are permitted:
�a Boarding and Lodging Houses
b Colleges
c Hotels, Motels, Auto Courts
d Nursery school, day care of pre-school age children only
e Public Buildings
f Public Parking
g Rest Homes
'h The following signs:
1. Name plates not exceeding two square feet in area
containing the name of occupant of the premises.
2. One sign, attached to the main building, not to
exceed twenty square feet of surface area and
advertising only the name of the building and/or
development.
3. One sign, attached to the main building not to
exceed twelve square feet of surface area per-
taining only to the sale, lease, or hire of only
the particular building, property or premises
upon which displayed."
SECTION 4. Section 9216 of the West Covina Municipal Code
is hereby amended by the addition thereto of a new subsection (o)
reading as follows:
"(o) Private clubs, fraternities, sororities and lodge
halls."
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and shall publish the same as required by law.

do hereby certify that the above. Ordinance No. 672 was regularly
introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting of
the City Council on the 25th day of July , 1960. That, thereafter,
said ordinance was duly adopted and passed aka regular meeting of the
City Council on the �-8th day of August , 1960, by the following
vote, to -wit:
