ORDINANCE NO. 644
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA DECREASING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT
ON SERVICE AVENUE BETWEEN ORANGE AND SUNSET
AVENUES AND ON GARVEY AVENUE.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as
follows :
SECTION 1. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an
engineering and traffic investigation and survey that the speed per-
mitted by State Law outside of business and residence districts as
applicable upon the following public streets within the incorporated
limits of the City of West Covina is more than is reasonable or safe
under the conditions found to.exist upon such streets, and it is
hereby determined and declared that the prima facie speed limit shall
be as herein set forth on those streets and parts of the streets herein
designated, when appropriate signs are erected giving notice thereof:

SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance.shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not
exceeding Five Hundred Dollars, or by imprisonment in the City Jail or
County Jail.of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, for a
period not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance.and shall cause the same to be published as required by
Taw.

do hereby certify that the above Ordinance No. 644 was regularly
introduced and placed upon its first reading.at a regular meeting of
the City Council on the 4th day of December, 1959. That thereafter,
said ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular meeting of
the City Council on the 28th day of December 1959, by the following
vote, to -wit:
