AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
.• WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
TO, INCORPORATING IN AND MAKING A PART OF SAID CITY
OF WEST COVINA. CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY OUTSIDE
THE SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO, KNOWN AS "WEST
COVINA SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 158".

WHEREAS, under and pursuant to and in accordance with the
provisions of the "Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939", as amended, the
City Council of the City of West Covina, in due course, on its own motion,
initiated proceedings for the annexation to the said. City of the uninhabited
territory described in Resolution No. 1197, adopted September 16, 1957,
including the territory hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, prior to the initiation by the City Council of
said City of the proceedings for the annexation of said territory to
the City of West Covina, the same was submitted to and reported upon
favorably by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County with respect
to the definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries of said
territory, pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State
of California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did at a regular meeting thereof
duly adopt a resolution initiating said proceedings and giving notice of
the proposed annexation, which resolution specifically described the
boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of
West Covina, and designated the same as "West Covina Southerly Annexation
District No. 158"; and
WHEREAS, said resolution and notice were duly published
in accordance with law, which said resolution and notice aforesaid gave
notice of the day, hour and place when and where any person owning real
property within said territory so proposed to be annexed, and having
any objection to the proposed annexation, might appear before the City
Council and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed, and
said publications were complete twenty days prior to the date of such
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk did, not less than twenty days before
the public hearing on the proposed annexation, cause a written notice,
in accordance with the provisions of the Government Code, of said pro-
posed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the
territory proposed to be annexed is assessed on the last preceding equal-
ized county assessment roll available on the date the proceedings were
initiated, at the address shown on said assessment roll; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina set
such hearing for a date not less than forty days nor more than sixty
days from the date of the adoption of such resolution, to -wit: for
8:00 o'clock P.M., on October 28, 1957, before said City Council at
the City Hall, West Covina; and

WHEREAS, at the time set aforesaid, to -wit: October 28,
1957, at 8:00 o'clock. P.M. of said day, said matter duly came before
said City Council at a regular meeting thereof for hearing, and a
majority protest not having been presented against said proposed annexa-
tion in accordance with Section 35313 of the Government Code, and
WHEREAS, the City Council elected to proceed with said
annexation and made certain changes in the boundaries of the territory
proposed to be annexed by diminishing the land area of said territory
by not more than five per cent, and
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the territory proposed to be
annexed, as so changed, were duly submitted to the County Boundary Com-
mission for report as to their definiteness and certainty and were duly
approved by said County Boundary Commission by its report dated January
15, 1958, and
WHEREAS, the property and territory hereinafter specifically
described is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City of West Covina
and is uninhabited within the meaning of Section 35303 of said Government
Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of
which was submitted to and duly approved by the Boundary Commission of
Los Angeles County as to definiteness and certainty, and which territory
was designated in the resolution and notice of said City Council as
"West Covina Southerly ,Annexation District No. 158", be and the same is
hereby approved, and that the following described territory be, and the
same is hereby ordained to be annexed to, incorporated in, and made a
part of the City of West Covina, to -wit:
All of that certain unincorporated territory in the County
of Los Angeles, State of California, within the following
described boundary:
Beginning at an angle point in the Southerly Boundary line
of the City of West Covina, as it existed on September 15,
1957, being also a point in the Easterly line of the land,
described as Parcel 1, conveyed to Emil G. Galster by deed
recorded in Book 20612 at Page 319 of Official Records,
on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County;
distant South 10 04, 00" West 1280.96 feet, more or less,
from the Northeast corner of said land to Galster; thence
South 10 041 00" West along said Easterly line to the South-
east corner of said land; thence Westerly along the Southerly
line of said land, to the Westerly line of Parcel No. 2
as shown on L.A.C.A. Map No. 57 recorded in Book 1, page
5 of Assessor's Maps, on file in the office of the County
Recorder of said County; thence Southerly along said
Westerly line, and Southerly, Easterly and Southerly along
the boundary of Parcel No. 3 as shown on said map to the
Northerly line of La Puente Road, 66 feet wide, as shown
on map of Forster and Rowland Tract, Sheet No. 2, in the
County of Los Angeles, State of California, recorded in
Book, 20, pages 1W and 15 of Maps, on file in the office
of the County Recorder of said County; thence Southeasterly
and Northeasterly along the last mentioned Northerly line,
to a point of intersection with the Northerly prolongation
of the Easterly line of Center Street as shown by map of
said tract; thence Southerly along said Northerly prolonga-
tion and the Easterly line of said Center Street, to a point
of intersection with.a line that is parallel with and distant
145 feet North of the Northerly line of Valley Boulevard
(formerly Los Angeles and Pomona Road, 60 feet wide) as
shown on map of said Forster and Rowland Tract; thence
Easterly and Northeasterly along said parallel line, to
a point of intersection with a line radial to said Northerly
line of Valley Boulevard and passing through a point in
said Northerly line distant 295.00 feet Southwesterly from
the Southeast corner of Lot 66 of said Forster and Rowland
Tract; thence Southeasterly along said radial line to said
Northerly line of Valley Boulevard; thence Northeasterly
along said last mentioned Northerly line, to a point of
intersection with the Easterly boundary lined' said tract;
thence Northwesterly and Northerly along said Easterly
tract boundary to the Southwest corner of Lot 2 of W. R.
Rowlands Subdivision, in the County of Los Angeles, State
of California, as shown by map recorded in Book 42, at
Pages 79 and 80 of Maps, on file in the office of the County
Recorder of said County; thence Easterly, Northerly and
Northwesterly along the boundary of said Lot 2 to the South-
easterly line of La Puente Road, 66 feet wide, as shown on
map recorded in Book. 1205, page 252 of Deeds, on file in
the office of the County Recorder of said County; thence
Southwesterly along said Southeasterly line, and South-
westerly along the Southeasterly line of said first mentioned
La Puente Road to a point distant Northeasterly thereon
350 feet from the aforementioned Easterly line of Center
Street; thence Northwesterly, at right angles to said last
mentioned Southeasterly line, to a line that is parallel with
and 300 feet Northwesterly, measured at right angles, from
the Northwesterly line of said last mentioned La Puente
-Road; thence Southwesterly and Westerly along lines that
are parallel with and 300 feet Northwesterly and Northerly,
measured at right angles, from the Northwesterly and Northerly
lines of said last mentioned La Puente Road, to the Easterly
boundary of said Parcel No. 3 as shown on said L.A.C.A. Map
No. 57; thence Northerly along the boundary of said Parcel
No. 3 and following the same in all its various courses to
the Southeasterly corner of said Parcel No. 2; thence
Northerly and Southwesterly along the boundary of said
Parcel No. 2 to the Easterly boundary of the parcel of
land described in deed to W. E. Hardy recorded in Book.

45136, page 102 of Official Records, on file in the office
of the County Recorder of said County; thence Northerly
along said last mentioned Easterly boundary to said boundary
of the City of West Covina; thence Westerly along said
city boundary to the point of beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "West Covina Southerly
Annexation District No. 158".
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the West
Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published and circu-
lated in the City of West Covina,. and thirty days from and after the
final passage thereof shall file a certified copy thereof with the Secre-
tary of State, of the State of California, and after such certified copy
has been so filed, and a certificate of the Secretary of State certifying
to its filing has been received by the City of West Covina, the City
Clerk shall file a copy of the map of said territory with the following:
The County Surveyor of Los Angeles County; the County._ Recorder of Los
Angeles County; the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles;
the County Assessor of said County; the County Engineer of said County;
the Board of Equalization -of the State of California, and the Census Bureau of
the United States Government.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina, held
on the loth day of November , 1958, by the affirmative vote of at
