AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
T0, INCORPORATING IN AND MAKING A PART OF SAID CITY
OF WEST COVINA, CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY OUTSIDE
THE SAID CITY AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO, KNOWN AS "WEST
COVINA SOUTHEASTERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 161".
WHEREAS, under and pursuant to and in accordance with
provisions of the "Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939", as amended,
City Council of the City of West Covina, in due course, on its own
motion, initiated proceedings for the annexation to the said City
the uninhabited territory hereinafter described; and

WHEREAS, prior to the initiation by the City Council of
said City of the proceedings for the annexation of said territory to
the City of West Covina, the same was submitted to and reported upon
favorably by the Boundary Commission of Los ,Angeles County with respect
to the definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries of said
territory, pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State
of California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did at a regular meeting thereof
duly adopt a resolution initiating said proceedings and giving notice
of the proposed annexation, which resolution specifically described the
boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of
West Covina, and designated the same as "West Covina Southeasterly
Annexation District No. 161"; and
WHEREAS, said resolution and notice were duly published
in accordance with law; which said resolution and notice aforesaid
gave notice of the day, hour and place when and where any person owning
real property within said territory so proposed to be annexed, and
having any objection to the proposed annexation, might appear before
the City Council and show cause why such territory should not be so
annexed, and said publications were complete twenty days prior to the
date of such hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk did, not less than twenty days before
the public hearing on the proposed annexation, cause a written notice,
in accordance with the provisions of the Government Code, of said pro-
posed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the
territory proposed to be annexed is assessed on the last preceding
equalized County Assessment Roll available on the date the proceedings
were initiated, at the address shown on said assessment roll; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina set
such hearing for a date not less than forty days nor more than sixty
days from the date of the adoption of such resolution, to -wit: for
8:00 o'clock. P.M. on July 14, 1958, before said City Council at the
City Hall, West Covina; and
WHEREAS, at the time set aforesaid, to -wit: July 14, 1958,
at 8:00 o'clock: P.M. of said day, said matter duly came before said City
Council at a regular meeting thereof for hearing, and a majority protest
not having been presented against said proposed annexation in accordance
with Section 35313 of the Government Code, and
WHEREAS the property and territory hereinafter specifically

described is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City of West
Covina and is uninhabited within the meaning of Section 35303 of said
Government Code;

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the annexation to the City of West Covina
of the territory hereinafter described, the boundary description of
which was submitted to and duly approved by the Boundary Commission of
Los Angeles County as to definiteness and certainty, and which territory
was designated in the resolution and notice of said City Council as
"West Covina Southeasterly Annexation District No. 161; be and the same
is hereby approved, and that the following described territory be, and
the same is hereby ordained to be annexed to, incorporated in, and
made a part of the City of West Covina, to -wit:
All that property in the County of Los Angeles, State
of California, lying within the following described
boundaries:
Beginning at a point in the easterly boundary of the City
of West Covina as it existed on April 14, 1958, being the
point of intersection of the westerly prolongation of the
northerly line of Lot 5 of Tract No. 2371, in the County
of Los Angeles, State of California, as shown by map
recorded in Book. 23, Pages 98 and 99 of Maps, on file
in the office of the County Recorder of said County,
with the center line of Barranca Street, (formerly
Baranca Street, 60 feet wide), as shown by said map;
thence easterly along said prolongation, said northerly
line of Lot 5 and the northerly line of Lot 6 of said
Tract, to a point in said last mentioned northerly line
distant westerly 1.00 foot from the northeast corner of
said Lot 6; thence southerly parallel with the easterly
line of said Lot 6 a distance of 1.00 foot; thence
easterly, parallel with said northerly line of Lot 6
to a point in the easterly line of said Lot 6; thence
southerly along the easterly line of said lot, to a
point in the southerly line of the parcel of land
conveyed to Donald A. Thompson and Eugenia D..Thompson
as Parcel 1 by deed recorded in Book 43997 Page 382 of
Official Records in the office of said recorder; thence
westerly and southwesterly along the boundary of said
parcel of land to the boundary of the land conveyed
to Melvin A. Jensen, as Parcel 1 by deed recorded in
Book. 46926 Page 195 of said Official Records; thence
southeasterly and southerly along said last mentioned
boundary to the southeast corner of said land so con-
veyed to Melvin A. Jensen; thence westerly along the
southerly line of said land so conveyed to Melvin A.
Jensen and the westerly prolongation thereof, to a
point in the westerly line of said Lot 6, distant
northerly thereon 412.12 feet, from the southwest corner
of said last mentioned lot; thence southerly along said
westerly lot line to a point distant north 10 04, 16"
east 209.67 feet from said southwest corner of Lot 6
thence north 880 55, 44" west, to a point in a line
that is parallel with said westerly lot line, and distant
42.66 feet westerly therefrom, measured at right angles;
thence south V� 04, 16" west 205.00 feet, along said
parallel line,to a point in the southerly line of Lot
5 of said tract, distant 42.92 feet, westerly from the
southwest corner of said Lot 6, being also the northerly
line of Cameron Avenue, 60 feet wide, as shown by said
tract map; thence northwesterly along said northerly
line of Cameron Avenue, to a point in a line that is
parallel with the west line of Lot 26 of said tract,
and distant 135.00 feet easterly therefrom, measured at

right angles; thence southerly along said last mentioned
parallel line to a point in a line bearing south 889 49,
14" west and passing throuh a point in said west line
of'lot 26, distant south 19 04, 16" west 314.85 feet,
from the northwest corner of said Lot 26; thence westerly
along said last mentioned line to a point of intersection
with a line that is parallel with and distant 205.00 feet
northerly, measured at right angles from that certain
course in the northerly line of the parcel of land des-
cribed in deed to Virginia Smith recorded in Book 44133
Page 400 of said Official Records as having a bearing of
south 83' 26, 48" west; thence westerly along said last
mentioned parallel line, to a point in a line that is
parallel with the west line of said Lot 26 and distant
205.00 feet westerly therefrom, measured at right angles;
thence southerly along said last mentioned parallel
line to a point in the northerly boundary of the above -
mentioned land conveyed to Virginia Smith; thence westerly
along said northerly boundary to a point in the north-
easterly boundary of Lot 29, Tract No. 13892 in the City
of West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State of Cali-
fornia, as shown by map recorded in Book 284, Pages 47
to 50 inclusive of Maps, on file in the office of the
County Recorder of said County, that is north 22° 42'
west 82.57 feet from an angle point in the northeasterly
line of Lot 29 of said last mentioned tract, said point
being also in the northeasterly boundary of the City of
West Covina as it existed on .April 14, 1958; thence
northwesterly, westerly, northerly, easterly, and northerly
following said City Boundary in all its various courses
to the point of beginning.
Said territory shall be designated as "West Covina Southeasterly Annexa-
tion District No. 161.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the
West Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published and
circulated in the City of West Covina, and thirty days from and after
the final passage thereof shall file a certified copy thereof with the
Secretary of State, of the -State of -California, and after such certi-
fied copy has been so filed, and a certificate of the Secretary of
State certifying to its filing has been received by the City of West
Covina, the City Clerk shall file a copy of the map of said territory
with the following: The County Surveyor of Los Angeles County; the
County Recorder of Los Angeles County; the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles; the County Assessor of said County; the County
Engineer of said County; the Board of Equalization of the State of Cali-
fornia, and the Census Bureau of the United States Government.
