Ordinance - 566ORDINANCE NO. 566 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA AMENDING SECTION 1507 OF ORDINANCE NO. 325 RELATING TO THE PROJECTION OF EAVES INTO SIDE YARDS. The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby finds and determines: That the Planning Commission on its own motion initiated proceeds s for a proposed amendment to Ordinance No. 325 (Zoning • Ordinancel of the City of West Covina, affecting regulations pertain- ing to required yard areas in residential zones, as defined in Section 1507 thereof; That the Planning Commission and City Council did conduct duly advertised public hearings,as prescribed by law to consider the amendment to Ordinance No. 325: affecting projections of eaves into side yards; That the proposed amendment will in no way have an adverse effect upon existing or future development and will in effect enhance the development of residential areas. SECTION 2. Section 1507 of Ordinance No. 325, passed and approved the 28th day of June, 1954, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 1507: CORNICES, EAVES, ETC. MAY PROJECT INTO YARDS. Cornices, eaves, belt courses, sills, buttresses or other similar architectural features may extend or project into a re wired side yard not more than two (2) inches for each one ?1) foot of width of such side yard and may extend or project into a required front or rear yard not more than thirty (30) inches; provided that single story dwellings in the residential zones shall be permitted the following • side yard eave projections: (1) Where the required side yard is five feet, eaves may project therein not more than two feet. (2) Where the required side yard is seven feet, eaves may project therein not more than three feet." SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall publish the same as required by law.
