ORDINANCE NO.517
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA ,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE . NG. 325. OF THE CITY OF 'WEST COVINA,
KNOWN AS.«THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINAN.CE"9 ADDING A NEW
SECTION TO BE NUMBERED SECTION 500.1 AND RELATING TO —DAY NURSERIES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No.325 of the City of West
Covina, known as "The Comprehensive Zoning Ordinancels, adopted
June 28, 1954, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto
as a part of Article 5 a new section to be numbered Section 500.1
and to follow Section 500 therein, and to read as follows:
"SECTION 500.1 In addition to the uses permitted
by the provsssons of Section 500 hereinabove, in
an R-1 Zone the following use is permitted, subject
to all'of the conditions and requirements in said
Section 500 set forth and enumerated:
Day care homes, day nurseries, or licensed homes
for foster children (when conducted in a one -family
dwelling) when there is provided on the lot or
adjacent.to the premises, a play lot completely
fenced and containing not less than nine hundred (900)
square feet in area. Each such home or day nursery
shall comply fully with all of the requirements of
the State Welfare and Institutions Code or other
applicable laws, ordinances or regulations. Notwith-
standing any provision of this Article to the contrary
any person may use his home for the care of not to
exceed three children, which number shall be in
addition to the related family of the person conducting
such use and such last mentioned person shall not be
required to have a City business license theref orlt.
• SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15)
days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published
once in the West Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the City of West Covina, and thirty
(30) days frog and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance
shall take effect and be in force.

adopted at a regularrmeeting of the City Council of the City
of ifest Covina, held on the day of January, 1957, by
the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
