AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 24 OF ORDINANCE NO.384.OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA, KNOWN AS.THE CUT AND FILL ORDINANCE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. 'THAT SECTION 24 OF ORDINANCE NO.384 OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING.THE DESIGN,CONSTRUCTION,
MAINTENANCE OR ALTERATION OF GRADING9 EXCAVATIONS AND FILLS; PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF AND DECLARING THE URGENCY HEREOF",
adopted March 28,-1955, be and the same is hereby amended so as to
read as follows:
11SECTION'24. RELATIONSHIP OF BUILDINGS TO CUT OR FILL SLOPES.
No building or structure shall be located closer than
a. 15 feet from top of fill slope
b. 15 feet from toe of fill slope
unless retaining walls or other devices satisfactory to the
Chief Building Inspector are provided to protect said
structures and all other property related thereto. The
Chief Building Inspector shall reserve the right to approve
or disapprove the exact location of any building or structure
proposed for installation on any building site. The Chief
Building Inspector may, upon request, permit deviation from
the standard setbacks mentioned above in subsections "all or
"b" provided that the owner or developer shall first furnish
the Chief Building Inspector with a written opinion of a
Civil Engineer, Licensed by the State of California and ex-
perienced in soil compaction and erosion control work,
who shall be acceptable to the Chief Building Inspector,
certifying that he has investigated the site and that the
proposed deviation would not endanger any property or proposed
building or structure."
SECTION 2. That said Ordinance No.384 be and the same is
hereby amended as in Section I hereof provided.
S'ECTION.3.- The City.Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this.Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once
in the West Covina Tribune, a newspaper -of general circulation

published and circulated in the City of West Covina, and thirty (30)
days from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall
take effect and be in force.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina,
held on the 26th day of March, 1956, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
