AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,
CALIFORNIA I ORDERING THE VACATION AND. ABANDONMENT OF A PORTION
OF THAT CERTAIN STREET KNOWN AS VALINDA.AVENUE IN SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require
and this City Council, in pursuance of the provisions of Resolution
of Intention No.8829 adopted February 6919569 after a public hearing
• and upon a finding that the hereinafter designated portion of a
certain public street is unnecessary for present or prospective pur-
poses, does hereby order the following improvement to be made, to wit:
Beginning at a point in the Easterly line of
Valinda Avenue, 60 feet wide, (formerly known as
Covina Avenue) as shown on map of E. J. Baldwin's
Fifth Subdivision of a portion of Rancho La Puente,
as recorded in Book 12, Pages 134 and-135 of Maps,
on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, said point being the point of inter-
section of a line parallel with the Southeasterly
line of Glendora Avenue, and distant 10'.00 feet
Southeasterly therefrom, measured at right angles,
with the Easterly line of said Valinda Avenue;
thence Southerly along said Easterly line 60 feet,
more or less, to a point of intersection with the
'Northeasterly line of the Los Angeles County Flood
Control District's Right -of -Way, 150 feet wide;
thence Northwesterly along said Northeasterly Right -
of -Way line, 45 feet, more or less, to a point of
intersection with the above mentioned parallel line;
• thence Northeasterly along said parallel line 60
feet, more or 1ess, to the point of beginning
be and the same is hereby vacated and abandoned for street purposes,
as contemplated by Resolution No.882, the City of West Covina hereby
reserving and excepting from said vacation the permanent easement
and right at any time, or from time to time, to construct, maintain,
operate, replace, remove and renew sanitary sewers and storm drains
and appurtenant structures in, upon, over and across said portion of
such street and pursuant to any existing franchises or renewals

thereof, or otherwise, to construct, maintain, operate, replace,
remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits, cables, wires,
poles and other convenient structures, equipment and fixtures for
the operation of gas pipe lines, telegraphic and telephone lines
and for the transportation or distribution of electric energy,
petroleum and its products, ammonia., water and incidental purposes,
• including access and the right to keep the property free from
inflammable materials and wood growth, and otherwise to protect
the same from all hazards in, upon and over the said street or
portion thereof herein -vacated.
SECTION 2. That said work is for the closing up, vacation
and abandonment of the street described in Section 1 hereof and it
appears to said City Council that there are no damages, costs or
expenses arising out of said work, and that no assessment is nece-
ssary for said work and therefore no commissioners are appointed to
assess the costs or damages for said work or to have supervision
thereof.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fif teem (15) days
• from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once
in the West Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the City of West Covina, and thirV (30)
days from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall
take effect and be in force.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of West Covina, held on the 26th day of March, 1956,
by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
