Ordinance - 280• • ORDINANCE NO.230 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, DECREASING STATE LAW KAXIMMi SPEED UPON PORTIONS OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS WITHIN THE INCORFOFZATED LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. DECREASE OF STATE LAW MAXIMUM SPEED. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation and survey that the speed permitted by State law outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the following public streets within the incorporated limits of the City of West Covina is more than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is hereby determined and declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated, when appropriate signs are erected giving notice thereof: Name of streets or portion a ec eUc Citrus Street from the intersection o Garvey Boulevard therewithto the southerly city limits of_ the City of West Covina. Merced Avenue between the inter- sections of Orange Avenue and Glendora Avenue therewith. California Avenue between the inter- sections of Garvey Boulevard and Merced Avenue therewith. Sunset Avenue between the intersections of Garvey Boulevard and Merced Avenue therewith. Barranca Street from the intersection of Garvey Boulevard therewith to the southerly city limits of the City of West Covina. -1- Declared Prima Facie Speed Limit 35 miles per hour. • CJ SECTION 2. That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the County Jail of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, for a period not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be posted with the names of the members voting for and against the same, in three places within the City, in the manner required by the laws and ordinances in the City of West Covina, and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect an ATTE : City Clerk I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina, held on the y day of A1605'N-L)ULRI 1953, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen J.
