Ordinance - 244ORDINANCE N0.244 .AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF,THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.55 OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, KNOWN AS THE LICENSE ORDINANCE, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO TO BE KNOWN AS AND NUMBERED SECTION 15A. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No.55 of the City of West • Covina, entitled "An Ordinance of the City of West Covina licensing, for the purpose of revenue and regulation, all and every kind of business authorized by law and transacted and carried on in the City of West Covina, and all shows, exhibitions and lawful games carried on therein, fixing the rate of license tax upon the same, providing penalty for any violations thereof, and repealing all ordinances in conflict with this ordinance", adopted June 19, 1934, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section to be known as and numbered Section 15A and to read as follows: "SECTION 15A. VENDING AND WEIGHING MACHINES OR DEVICES: For every person engaged in the business of renting, leasing, operating�or-maintaining any vending,weighing, or merchandise machine or device or any other such similar or like machine or device,,not otherwise licensed under the ordinance and not prohibited by law, wherein the sum of one (1�) cent or less than five (5�) cents is charged or collected for such machine or device by means of a coin slot or otherwise, $2.00 per year or fraction thereof for each such machine or devicewhere the sum of five (5�) cents and less than ten (10;, ) cents is charged by means of a coin or token slot or otherwise, $6.00 per year or fraction thereof for each such machine or device and when the sum of ten (10�) cents or more is charged by means of a coin or token slot or otherwise, $12.00 per year or fraction thereof for each such machine or device. " SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) -1- days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be posted with the names of the members voting for and against the same in three places within the city, and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force in the manner required by the laws and ordinances in the City of West Covina. CITY OF WEST COVINA ) ROBERT FLOTTEN, being by me first duly sworn, deposes and says: That he is the City Clerk for the City of West Covina, Cal ifornia, and a citi- zen of the United States, over the age of 21 years; that on the 15th day of April, 1953, he posted three copies of ORDINANCE NO. 244 of the City of West Covina, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 55 OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, KNOWN AS THE LICENSE ORDINANCE, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO TO BE KNOWN AS AND NUMBERED SECTION 15A" in three public places in said City, to wit: One at the Police Office, 1444 West Garvey Boulevard, one in front of the West Covina School House, and one at the northwest corner of Puente Street and Lark Ellen Boulevard.
