AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, 'CALIFOI-2.NIA,AIIIENDING
SECTIONS 3 AND 4 OF ORDINANCE N0.156 OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
ENTITLED " AN ORDINANCE OF' THE CITY OF WEST COVINA REGULATING
THE COLLECTION OF GARBAGE IN THE CITY OF WEST COVINA", ADOPTED
MAY 26, 1948.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE. CITY.OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance No.156 of the City,
of West Covina, entitled "An Ordinance of the City of West Covina
regulating the collection of garbage in the City of West Covina,"
adopted May 26, 1948, be and the same is hereby amended so as to
read as follows:
"SECTION 3. The City of West Covina, its:.:agents, employees
or any person, firm, or corporation with whom the City of West
Covina has entered into or may hereafter enter into a contract for
the collection and removal of garbage shall, at the request of the
manager, tenant, occupant or lessee of any real property in the
City of West Covina, collect and remove all garbage accumulated at
the following intervals, to wit:
(a) Semi -weekly, at regular intervals, from any private
dwelling house or residential unit;
(b) Two, three or six times weekly, at the option of such
manager, tenant, occupant or lessee, from any hotel,
boarding house or place of business. "
SECTION 2. That Section 4 of said Ordinance No.156 of the
City of West Covina be and the same is hereby amended so as to read
as follows:
"SECTION 4. Every person, firm or corporation from whom
garbage is collected and removed, as provided in this Ordinance,
shall pay a fee to the collector of such garbage for such collection

and removal thereof, said fee to be fixed and computed as follows:
(a) For each private dwelling house or residential
unit, a fee of 7V per family per month for twice
weekly collection of garbage and once weekly collection
of tin cans and bottles at curb or alley; or a fee of
50/ per family per month for once weekly collection of
• tin cans and bottles only at curb or alley.
(b) For any hotel, boarding house or place of business,
a sum not exceeding the following amounts for the services
described:

SECTION 3. That said Ordinance No.156 be amended as in Sections
• 1 and 2 of this Ordinance hereinabove set forth.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be posted with the names
of the members voting for and against the same in three places within
the City, and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage
thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force in the
manner required by the laws and ordinances in the Cit 9 of West Covina.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West
Covina on the 9th day of March, 1953, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:

of the United States, over the age of 21 years; that on the llth of March,
1953, he posted three copies of ORDINANCE NO. 239 of the City of West Covina,
entitled "'AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
SECTIONS 3 AND 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 156 OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, ENTITLED
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA REGULATING THE COLLECTION OF GARBAGE
IN THE CITY OF WEST COVINA". ADOPTED MAY 26, i948,n in three public places
in said City, to wit: One at the Police Office, 1444 West Garvey Boulevard,
one in front of the West Covina School House, and one at the northwest corner
of Puente Street and Lark Ellen Boulevard.
