ORDINANCE NO.238
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO.147 OF SAID CITY, KNOWN AS THE.ZCNING ORDINANCE AND
CHANGING THE ZONING MAP ATTACHED TIERETO AND MADE A PART THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance No.147 of the City
of West Covina entitled "AN ORDINANCE -ESTABLISHING ZONES IN THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA,AND THEREIN REGULATING THE USE OF' LAND, HEIGHT
0 OF BUILDINGS AND YARD SPACES; ADOPTING A MAP SHORING THE BOUNDARIES
OF SAID ZONES; DEFINING THE TERMS USED IN'`PHIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING
FOR ITS ADJUSTMENT, AMENDMENT AND ENFORCEMENT; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
FOR VIOLATIONS AND REPEALING ORDINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT THEREWITH", adopted January. 21, 1948, be and the same
is hereby amended by adding thereto, as a part of the Zoning Map of
the City of West Covina, the following:
The hereinafter described real property located at the
southeast corner of Hollenbeck Street and Garvey Boulevard
in the City of West Covina and more particularly described
as follows, to wit:
The northerly 370 feet of Lot 39, Tract 930, in the
Rancho La Puente, as per map recorded in Book 17,
• Pages 38 and 39 of Maps, records of Los Angeles County,
excepting therefrom that portion lying within dedicated
streets and required for Ramona Freeway, be and the same
is hereby excepted from the particular zone in which
such real property.has otherwise been placed and designated
by the provisions of this section, and all such real
property and territory is hereby granted a variance so
as to establish said real property and territory as a
part of Zone C-1 under the provisions of said Ordinance

No.147, subject to the following conditions:
(a) That all street improvements except street trees,
as outlined in Section 49 of Ordinance No.225 of the
City of West Covina, including utilities and sidewalks
be installed to the standard specifications of the
City of West Covina and to meet the approval of the
City Engineer.

(b) That all improvements conform to the Precise Plan'
established by Ordinance N0.167 and adopted for this area.
(c) That necessary widening of Hollenbeck Street be
deeded to the City of West Covina in order to conform to
the master plan of highways,
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the
passage thereof, shall cause the same to be posted with the names
of the members voting for and against the same in three places within
the City, and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage
thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force in the manner
required by the laws and ordinances

I HEREBY CERTIFY that thd' foregoing Ordinance was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina
on the 24k- day of February, 1953, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:

he is the City Clerk for the City of West Covina, California, and a citizen
0 of the United States, over the age of 21 years; that on the 25th day of
February, 1953, he posted three copies of ORDINANCE NO. 238 of the City of
West Covina, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 147 OF SAID CITY, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE AND
CHANGING THE ZONING MAP ATTACHED THERETO AND MADE A PART THEREOF," in three
public places in said City, to wit: One at the Police Office, 1444 West
Garvey Boulevard, one in front of the West Covina School House, and one at
the northwest corner of Puente Street and Lark Ellen Boulevard.
