ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF 7.7EST COVINA ANNEXING TO, INCORPORATING
IN AND MAKING A ?ART OF THE CITY OF 7JEST
COVINA THE TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS
141PIESTERLY ADDITION NO. 2".
The City Council of the City of %?lest Covina,
California, do ordain as follows:
',1HEREAS, a petition signed by a majority of the
qualified voters in the territory adjoining the Westerly
boundary of the City of Arest Covina, designated in said
petition as "IT&STERLY ADDITION NO. 211, together with a map
of said territory, was filed with the City Council of the
City of West Covina on February 9th, 1949, petitioning
said City Council to call a special election in said ter-
ritory, as provided under Act 5159 of the General Laws of
the State of California,! to vote on the question, "Shall
TNesterly Addition No. 2" be annexed to the City of West
Dovina?"; the legal description of said territory so des-
ignated as 11:,Westerly Addition No. 2" beinCD
g as follows:
Tract No. 14258 as recorded in map
book 297 on pages 26 and 27 in the
office of the County Recorder, of
the County of Los Angeles, in the
State of California.
IMAEREAS, pursuant to the filing of said petition
the said City Council at its regular meeting held on
�✓ % 3 1949, did adopt a resolution calling
for a special election to be held on_2x"� 1949,
in said territory designated as "10,resterly Addition No. 211,
notice of said election having been published according to
. law.

WHEREAS, at said election so held in said terri-
tory designated as "'Westerly Addition No. 211. on May 3rd,
1949, a majority of the votes cast were in favor of
annexation to the City of 'Jest Covina, to -wit: a total of
�J votes were cast, of inahich number I/ votes were cast in
favor of votes were cast against annexation to the
City of West Covina; and,
',`MEREAS, the City Council of the City of 1west
Covina deems it desirable to annex said 11r"Jesterly Addition
No. 211 to the City of ';Vest Covina by an Ordinance rather than
by special election;
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council
of the City of :`;rest Covina, that the territory hereinabove
described designated as "Westerly Addition No. 211, is annexed
to, incorporated in, and made a part of the City of Y7est
Covina; that the City Clerk of the City of ,Jest Covina be,
and he is hereby directed to enter this Ordinance in the
Records of the City of :'Test Covina, and that a copy of this
Ordinance duly certified under tide seal of the City of ,Jest
Covina, together with a copy of the Resolution of this City
Council declaring the results of the special election of
May 3rd, 1949, of said 11',-Vesterly Addition No. 211, be sub-
mitted to the Secretary of State, and to the County Surveyor
of Los Angeles County, California.
EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect
thirty days after the date of its adoption, and prior to the
expiration of fifteen days from the passage hereof shall be
published once in the hest Covina Tribune, a newspaper

First read at a regular meeting of the City Council

California, hereby certify:
That on the 27th day of June, 1949, pursuant to the
provisions of the 1°Annexation Act of 1913," as amended, Act
5159 of Deering's General Laws, the City Clerk of the CITY
OF WEST COVINA filed in my office a certificate and related
instruments in the matter of the annexation to said City of
inhabited territory designated as:
WESTERLY ADDITION fig. ,2.
I further certify that the instruments filed on said
date are described as follows:
1. Certificate of the City Clerk stating:
(a) May 30 1949, as the date of the
election held in said addition on the question
of annexation;
(b) May 11, 1949, as the date of the
canvass of the returns of said election by the.
City Council;
(c) May 25, 1949, as the date of passage
of Ordinance No. 168 approving the annexation;
(d) A description of the boundaries of said
addition.
2. Copy of Resolution No. 171 setting forth the
result,of the canvass of the returns of said
election.
3. Copy of said_Ordinance. No. 1.68. _
