AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
PROVIDING FOR THE DESIGNATION OF BUILDING
NUMBERS IN THE CITY OF VEST COVINA, AND
DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO DIVIDE THE
CITY INTO ONE OR MORE DISTRICTS, AND PRO+►
VIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT AND PRESCRIBING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS.
• The City Council of the City of West Covina, State
of California, do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: It is hereby made the duty of -the City
Engineer to divide the City into one or more districts in order
that he may, whenever requested so to do by the City Council,
establish the numbers to be allotted to all property along any
road or roads in any part of the City of Pest Covina.. The
said districts shall be regular in shape, although not necessarily
uniform, and the areas contained within a district shall be
contiguous.
SECTION Z.: It shall be the duty of the City Engineer -
of the City of West Covina, whenever so requested by the.City
Council, to establish the numbers along any road or roads in the
City of West Covina.., and the numbers so established, when adopted
and approved by a resolution of the City Council, shall be the
official numbers for such road or roads..
SECTION 3:: It shall be the duty of the City Engineer
to give written notice.to all owners -of property and all persons
in possession of property along said road or roads upon which
the official numbers have been established as provided in this
ordinance, and the said owners and persons in possession of.said
property shall, within ten days after said notice has been served
upon them, -place the number or numbers allotted to the said prop-
erty upon kkw said premises in such a position as to be plainly
visible from the road, said numbers to be not less than 3 inches
in height; and all. numbers other than the numbers so assigned
under the provisions of this ordinance shall be removed from said
property by the owners or persons in possession of said property
within ten days from the service of said notice designating the
appropriate numbers to be placed thereon. The Notice herein pro-
vided shall be considered -sufficient if the same shall be deposit-
ed in the United States Mail, property addressed, with sufficient
postage affixed thereto, or the same may be posted in a con-
spicuous place upon the property.
SECTION 4: Any person, firm or corporation who shall
violate, neglect or.refuse to comply with any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con-

vistion thereof shall be fined not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor
more than Thktty Dollars ($30.00), or by imprisonment in the County -
Jail for not less than ten (10) days nor more than thirty (30) days,
or by both such fine and imprisonment.
