ORDINANCE NO. 81
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That it is hereby declared and determined
that the sum of_$6 .60 will be required to pay the
cost and expense of maintaining the City of West Covina
during the fiscal year 1940-19410-
SECTION 2. That in order to raise the aforesaid sum,
there shall be and is hereby levied on each One Hundred
($100.00) Dollars of taxable property, in the said City of
West Covina a tax of THIRTY CENTS ($.30).
SECTION 3. That the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Los Angeles be and it is hereby requested to levy a tax
for the fiscal year of 1940-1941 upon all property in the
City of West Covina, at the rate hereinbefore set forth,
for the purpose of paying the cost and expense of maint-
aining the said City during the fiscal year.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk of the City of West Covina
shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and cause
the.same to be posted in three public places in said City.

certify.that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted by the City Council
of the City of West Covina at a regular meeting of said Council
on August 14, 1940, and signed by the Mayor of said City, and that
said ordinance was adopted by the following votes;

I. C.C. TOLAND. being first duly sworn, says; that he is the
City Clerk of the City of West Covina, and is a citizen of the
United States and over the age of twenty-one years; that on the
12th day of July 1940, he posted three copies of Ordinance No.
81 of the City of West Covina, entitled "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE
TAX RATE FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES FOR THE FISCAL Y-6AR 1940-194111,
in three public places in said City to -wit; one in front of the
West Covina School House, one at 1843 West State Highway, the
same being the place where the regular meetings of the City Council
of the said City are held, and one at the Northwest corner of
Puente Street and Lark Ellen Boulevard.
