Ordinance - 20• • ORDINANCE NO* 2 0 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR MUNICIPAL PUR- POSES BY THE COUNTY ASSESSOR AND COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES. The Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina do ordain as fDllows: Section 1: That the City of West Covina does hereby elect and determine that the duties of assessing property and collecting taxes provided by law to be performed by the assessor and tax collector of the said City of West Covina, shall be per- formed by the County Assessor and the County Tax Collector, respectively, of the County of Los Angeles, and the.said City of West Covina does hereby request the County assessor and the County Tax Collector of the said County of Los Angeles, respectively, to assess and collect all taxes levied for municipal purposes by the said City of nest Covina, and when oollected to transmit the amount thereof to the City Treasurer of the said city. Section 2: That from and after the adoption of this ordinance the functions of the City of West Covina relating to the assessment of property for taxation, the equalization of such assessments, the collection.of taxes levied for municipal purposes, the sale of property for the non-payment of taxes, and the redemp- tion thereof, shall be transferred to and assigned and discharged by the respective officers of the County of Los Angeles performing • • similar functions in respect to county taxes, and the mode and manner of assessing property for the purposes of municipal taxation, and the levying and collecting. of taxes for municipal purposes, the nature of the lien therefor, and the manner and method of enforcing the same, and of redemption of property sold for the non-paymen�.t of taxes, and all proceedings relating to said matters, shall be the same as are or shall be provided by law for such matters in relation to county taxes in the County of Los ,Angeles. The said officers shall have and are hereby given the same powers and duties in respect to the said functions of the City of West Covina that they have and shall have as pro- vided by law in the performance of similar functions in respect to county taxes in the County of Los Angeles. The said officers shall immediately deposit with the City. Treasurer of the said City of west Covina all moneys and taxes, with charges, penalties and costs, belonging to or collected for the use of the said city coming into t lie it hands.
