ORDINANCE NO. 4-
AN ORDINANCE AIWDING SECTION 5 of ORDINANCE
40. 9, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE
MAKING OF EXCAVATIONS IN PUBLIC STREETS,
ALLEYS (E: OTHER PUBLIC PL&CES.'►
The Board,of Trustees of the City of West Covina do
ordain as follows:
Section 1: Section 5 of O dInance No. 9 of the City of
West Covina, entitled"An Ordinance Regulating the Making of Exca-
vations in Public Streets, Alleys or tither Public Places" im
hereby amended so as to read as follows:
Section 5: Before any such parmit shall be granted
the applicant therefor shall deposit with the city
clerk a sum equal to thirty cents (30¢) per square
foot of surface of each such excavation to be made
in streets or other public places which have been
macadamized or paved; a sum equal to twenty cents
(2(T) for each square foot, of surface of such ex-
cavation to be made in streets or other public
places which have been graveled; and a sum equal
to ten cents (14) for each square foot of surface
of each such excavation to be made in streets or
other public places which are nalther macadamized,
paved nor graveled; provided, however, that no de-
posit shall be less than five dollars ($5.00) ; as d
provided further that at the discretion of the board

of trustees a bond may be accepted in lieu
of the deposit hereinbefore provided, such
band to be in such amount as the board of
trustees may determine, and the same shall be
executed by sureties that are satisfactory
to the said board.
