MINUTES
SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE
WEST COVINA CITY COUNCIL
AND ALL FIVE COMMISSIONS
(West Covina Visioning Program for 2020)
July 21, 2001
The special joint meeting was called to order at 9:00 am in the Community Room at City Hall,
1444 W. Garvey Avenue, West Covina.
ATTENDANCE: City Council:
Wong, Touhey (left at 10:00 am), Herfert (left at 10:00
am), and Miller
City Commissioners:
Scheuplein, Massarotto, McIntosh, Puchalski, Roe, Valley,
Vargas, Taylor, Baker, Nance
City .Staff.
Fields, Chung, Sandhagen, Fox, Samaniego, Mclsaac,
Wills, Keating, Alvarez-Glasman, Hatch, Janis
PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION Visioning Program consultant Sam Geneway began the
workshop covering the purpose of the Visioning Program
and the results that hopefully will be achieved by the end of
the day. Throughout the day the participants divided into
smaller workshop sessions covering these various topics:
* My Neighborhood: Where We Live
* Our Kids: How We Serve Our Youth
* My Community: Where We Gather, Work & Play
* My City: How We Govern
* My Money: How We Get It, How We Spend It
Wrap -Up The consultant concluded the workshop by highlighting the
thoughts and ideas gleaned from each of the smaller
sessions. He stated that he would prepare a draft report
incorporating the information from the workshop and that it
would be forwarded to the City Council for review. He
thanked everyone for attending and participating through-
out the entire process, noting that only through citizen par-
ticipation can government build a better city.
