SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
WEST COVINA CITY COUNCIL
July 15,1997
The special meeting of the West Covina City Council was called to order at 5:47 p.m, by Mayor
Wong in the City Manager's Conference Room, City Hall, 1444 West Garvey Avenue, West
Covina, California.
ROLL CALL Mayor Wong, Councilmembers Herfert, Howard, Touhey
Absent Mayor Pro Tern Melendez (excused)
Others Present Starbird, Wylie, Glover, Distelrath, Greene, Andra Greene
I. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS ON THE AGENDA None offered.
II. CLOSED SESSION
Mayor Wong recessed the meeting to conduct a closed session to discuss the following
matters:
CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code &54956.9(b): One case.
CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - EXISTING LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code &543569(a)
• Schubert vs City of West Covina, et al
• Limon vs West Covina Unified School District; Youth Pony Baseball vs City of
West Covina
Mayor Wong recessed the closed session at 7:20 p.m. to convene the Redevelopment
Agency. The City Council reconvened at 9:00 p.m. to continue the closed session. All
members were present except Mayor Pro Tern Melendez, and the following matter was
discussed:
CONFERENCE WITH LABOR NEGOTIATOR: Diane Ure
Pursuant to Government Code &54957.6 re:
• West Covina Firefighters' Association - I.A.F.F., Local 3226
• West Covina Police Officers' Association
The closed session concluded at 9:35 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Wong, seconded by Touhey to adjourn the
meeting at 9:35 p.m. Motion carried 4-0.
