SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
WEST COVINA CITY COUNCIL
MAY 20, 1997
The special meeting of the West Covina City Council, scheduled for 5:30 pm, was called to order by Mayor
Pro Tern Melendez at 5:48 pm in the City Manager's Conference Room at City Hall, 1444 W. Garvey Avenue,
West Covina.
ROLL CALL Mayor Wong (arrived at 6:09 pm), Mayor Pro Tern Melendez,
Councilmembers Herfert (arrived at 5:52), Howard, Touhey
Others Present: Starbird, Wylie, Glover, Ure, A. Greene, Combs, Collier, Martyr
PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS No comments offered.
CLOSED SESSION Mayor Pro Tern Melendez commenced the closed session at 5:48 pm
for the following purposes:
CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code § 54956.9(b): Two cases.
CONFERENCE WITH LABOR NEGOTIATOR: Diane Ure
Pursuant to Government Code § 54957.6:

* West Covina Firefighters' Assn. Representing the Fire Marshal
* West Covina Police Officers' Association
* West Covina Police Management Association

Mayor Pro Tern Melendez departed at 7:15 pm.
The closed session concluded at 7:20 pm.
ADJOURNMENT Motion by Wong and seconded by Herfert to adjourn the meeting at
7:20 pm. Motion carried 4-0.
