Chambers, 1444 W. Garvey Avenue, West Covina. The Pledge of Allegiance was _led by Mayor Pro Tem Lewis and the invocation was given by Father Ray Smith of St. Martha's Episcopal Church. is 9. ROLL CALL Mayor Bacon, Mayor Pro Tem Lewis, Councilmembers Manners, McFadden, Tarozzi thers Present: Fast, Miller, Hanna, Wylie, Holler, Thomas, Keating, Koniarsky, Salazar, Jung, Distelrath, Holmes, Perkins, Eliot,,Berry PRESENTATION TO OUTGOING MAYORPRO TEM LEWIS Mayor Bacon presented a resolution of -commendation and . --- a City tile to Mayor Pro Tem Lewis,�his,iretir_ement +..r....-... F_--..... from bhe_West Covina City Council. _ Mayor Pro Tem Lewis commented on his tenure with the City Council. PRESENTATION -TO OUTGOING MAYOR BACON Mayor Pro Tem Lewis presented a resolution of commen- dation, a City tile, and a Mayor's plague to Mayor Bacon for his tenure on the Council and rte m.'as Mayor of West Covina. Mayor Bacon discussed several issues facing the City and wished the new Council well in their upcoming deliberations. CERTIFICATE OF CANVASS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 10; 1990 City Attorney presented: RESOLUTION NO. 8489 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL Resolution 8489 - OF THE CITY OF WEST-COVINA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT - final results of OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 10, 1990, 4/10/90 election. DECLARING THE RESULT AND S1JCH-OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW Motion by Tarozzi, seconded by McFadden, and unani- mously carried to_waive ,further reading of the resolution ` and adopt. - - OATH OF OFFICE FOR NEWLY ELECTED COUNCIL MEMBERS City Clerk Berry administered the Oaths of Office to Steve Herfert newly elected Councilmembers'Steve`Herfert and Richard Richard Jennings Jennings. A Certificate of Election was given to each Councilmember.and they proceeded to take thei:i, place at the Council.dais. ._ELECTION OF MAYOR City Clerk Berry conducted the election for Mayor. Councilmember Jenningsnominated,Tarozzi, and Council- member'Manners' nominated McFadden,. Motion by Herfert, seconded by Jennings to elect -Councilmember Tarozzi as`Mayor. Motion carried with • Councilmember Manners abstaining. Councilmember Tarozzi Mayor Tarozzi was elected Mayor 'of ,West Covina.. The election of Mayor Pro Tem'was conducted by newly . elected'Mayor Tarozzi. Councilmember Jennings nominated McFadden. —There being no other nominations, Mayor Tarozzi closed nominations for Mayor Pro Tem and asked for a unanimously vote of the.Council:'. The request was granted and Councilmember McFadden was unanimously elected Mayor Mayor, Pro Tem McFaddeni Po Tem of West -Covina. 1. Mayor.Tarozzi:stated his goals for the upcoming year, .. .including: - .a) 'revising the Agenda process allowing.for'more Public input, b) initiating a.senior citizens commission of approximately five members, c) . revising' the, Redevelopment Agency repayment schedule, d) finding,a location for West Covina Playhouse, "e) •encouraging West Covina Beautiful to work through and with the-Chambe'r`of Commerce, f)-'and that -the Eastland shopping ceciter will be. developed with or without May Centers. Mayor Tarozzi asked Father Ray Smith to give a closing invocation to the ceremonies of the'evening. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ' . .Katherine Caswccci;.430 S. Xavier Hermosillo, 1930 Shamwood Street; expressed his,. Xavier Hermosillo ..'pleasure with•the new Council by reading a poem.he wrote. Lollie Bergman, 426 S. Fernwood,Street,_*expressed his -Louis Gilbert pleasure of•the senior citizens commission. BrljBeem, 549.N.
