MINUTES OF ADOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA
DECEMBER 3, 1973.
The adjourned regular meeting of the City Council called to order at
•4:30 P.M., in the West Covina Council Chambers by Mayor Jim Lloyd.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Ken Chappell.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Lloyd; Councilmen: Young, Shearer,
Chappell
Absent: Russ Nichols
Others Present: George Aiassa, City Manager
George Wakefield, City Attorney
Lela Preston, City Clerk
Leonard Eliot, Controller
George 'Zimmerman, Public Service Director
Chet Yoshizaki - Redevelopment Agency
Mark Volmert, Administrative Analyst, Jr.
Mike McDonnell, Staff Reporter - S.G.V.D.T.
Michael Miller, Planning Director
RESOLUTION NO. 4810 The Mayor presented:
ADOPTED "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA COMMENDING SAMUEL SORNBORGER
FOR HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY."
Motion by Councilman Chappell, seconded by Councilman Shearer and
carried, to waive full reading of said Resolution.
• Motion by Councilman Chappell, seconded by Councilman Shearer, to adopt
said Resolution and carried on roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Young, Shearer, Chappell, Lloyd
NOES: None
ABSENT: Nichols
Councilman Young: Mr. Mayor - I am sure when Councilman Nichols
arrives he would like to have his name appear
in the roll call of that Resoluticon for
Samuel Sornborger.
Mayor Lloyd: Yes, it will include the signature of
Councilman Nichols.
ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilman Chappell, seconded by
Councilman Shearer and carried, to adjourn
Council meeting at 4:32 P.M.
MAYOR LLOYD REOPENED THE COUNCIL MEETING AS A COURTESY TO
COUNCILMAN NICHOLS WHO WAS NOT IN ATTENDANCE EARLIER IN THE EVENING.
Councilman'Nichols: Mr. Mayor, I appreciate the opportunity to
do this because Mr. Sornborger is a long, long
time acquaintance and a very good friend. I am grateful that the
Council'2has offered this Resolution for Mr. Sornborger's services
I would move that....
(Mayor Lloyd advised the motion was already made and carried;
Councilman Young asked the City Attorney if the minutes could show
that the motion was made by Councilman Nichols and that all were
present. Mr. Wakefield advised this was permissable. Both
Councilman Chappell and Councilman Shearer, makers of the motion,,
agreed.)
