The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Chappell. RESOLUTION NO. 4486 ADOPTED A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA REQUESTING THE EXCLUSION FROM THE COUNTY UNIFIED SEWER MAINTENANCE DISTRICT OF CERTAIN TERRITORY ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF WEST COVINA. Motion by Councilman Nichols; seconded by Councilman Shearer and carried, to accept and file Engineer's report. Mayor Chappel inquired of the City Clerk'if any written protests or objections against the proposed improvements to be constructed or the proceedings. There being no oral or written protests, Mayor Chappell declared the PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING CLOSED AT 4:40 p.m. RESOLUTION NO. 4487 ADOPTED A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA ORDERING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE WEST COVINA SEWER MAINTENANCE DISTRICT IN ACCORDANCE WITH RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 4472. • Motion by Councilman Nichols; seconded by Councilman Shearer and carried, to waive further reading of the body of said Resolution. RESOLUTION NO. 4493 ADOPTED RESOLUTION NO. 4494 ADOPTED A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA COMMENDING RANDY HAAS, AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA COMMENDING THE WEST COVINA ROADRUNNER GIRLS' SOFTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN WINNING THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MUNICIPAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP. U CITY ATTORNEY - NEW MATTER LETTER FROM THE WEST COVINA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT The West Covina Unified School District is concerned that the proposed redevelopment of the Central Business District might cut Superintendent into its income. In a letter to Mayor Kenneth Chappell, the _:r.:_ :. of Schools_:_ asked to be given the opportunity to study the ramifications of the project on the school district's financial future. In addition, the letter requests that the City not close the door on incorporating protection of the school district within the legal structure of the Redevelopment Agency. Motion by Councilman Nichols; seconded by Councilman Young and carried, requesting the Staff and Counsel, Eugene Jacobs, to meet with school representatives to discuss the program. ORDINANCE NO. 1180 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA APPROVING AND ADOPTING ADOPTED THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE WEST COVINA CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. (Second reading and adoption) Motion by Councilman Young; seconded by Councilman Shearer and carried, to waive further reading of the body of the Ordinance. Frank Haven, Mayor, City of Covina, proposing a joint meeting with the West Covina City Council on Monday, January 31, 1972, 7:30 P.M., at the North Woods Inn. Council agreed to accept the proposal.
