ORAL C�7����1�1i 'NIICATIONS None NRITTEN The City Clerk presented and read a communication from the CONUVJNCIATIONS West Covina Chamber of Commerce, dated September 27' 1956, requesting that the second reading of proposed Amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 1).t.7 and 32[, pertaining to final zoning on property contiguous to the present civic center site, be delayed temporarily. .%t was further sta'-.ed in the communication, that this action had been taken by a motion duly made, socon'ed and carried by a polled majority of those nresent—with a committee appointed to report back to the membership the pertinent facts concerning the area in question. The City Attorney stated that this ordinance being referred to in the communi- cation is not an ordinance covering rezoning,all it is doing is setting up a new zone. It is not applying zoning to any particular -area. • The City :)'Tanager. presented and read a communication from the County Boundary Commission, dated October 3, 1956, which requested that because of the great increase in annexations and incorporation that twelve prints of any proposed annexation may now be furnished, alone with the usual date required in such matters. Bo COUNCIL COINUIETTEES, REPORTS OVERALL CITY PLAN FOR Councilman Pittenger sta'-'ed he has a communication FLOOD EMERGENCY from Mr. 11I.L.Johnson calling our attention to the approaching flood season and that last year a program had been sta!,,ted by Mr. Don 14ild for an overall city protection plan in case of floor . it was suggested that this program be reactivated and that Mr. 111ild be directed to co:-nT)lete the plan and that other proper equipment be on hand. 4-H CLUB ATTI:;NDANCZ. Councilman Pittenger stated that it is the intention of a 4-H group to attend the meeting of the Council on November 2z), 195 ' 56. It was consensus that as two members of Council would be unable to be in attendance at this meeting another regular meeting night might be suggested for this vroup, to attend. Approximately 312 acres southerly of Vine and Citrus and approximately 3600 feet east of Azusa in Puente Zone District. Motion by Councilman Kay, seconded by Councilman Mottinger that authorization be given for the purchase of this building, to be used for a Maintenance Shop in the City Yard, in the amount of :y`�950-00 with. the appropriation of the funds for cost of the building to be taken from the unappropriated reserve fund. 0 Motion passed on roll call as follows.- Ayes- Councilmen Mottinger, Crumley, Pittenger,, Kay, Brown Noes: None Absent: None It was consensus that a report be given regarding the cost of landscaping to be placed, when possible, ground the property line Of our City Maintenance Yard on Sunset Avenue. , SERVICES RETAINED Motion by Councilman Pittenger, seconded by Mr. L.J.Thompson Councilman Kay and carried that authorization be _riven for retaining the services of Mr. L.J.ThDMPSon, FUDGET REPORT City Manager stated that budget reports for the September, 1956 month of September, 1956, had been presented to members of Council as f'11ed by the City Finance Officer, Mrs, M.Van Dame called attention to the fact of the inconvenience to passengers in the matter of places where they can leave or board the Metropolitan Coach Line buses and that she had received telephone calls from people who mentioned the fact. Mrs. Van Dame suggested that perhaps some arrangement could be made to make it more convenient for passengers until the freeway is completed, and when it is finished buses should 'be made to go on the service road. This matter was referred to the City Manager who stated lie would consult f irst " in regard to this matter'. with the Traffic Department of the Metropolitan Coach Liner — DEMANDS APPROVED Motion by Councilman Crumley, seconded by Council- man Pittenger and carried, that Demands in the amount of $36,281-45 be approved as listed on - Demand Sheets B6.
