CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA
December 211 1955
Meeting -was called to order at 9:07 p.m. by Mayor Hurst in the West Covina City
Council Chambers.
Present: Mayor Hurst; Councilmen Kay, Van Horn, Sperline, Brown.
Absent: None.
Also Present: City Clerk.
Mayor Hurst: This special meeting was called for the purpose of considering the
passing of a resolution consenting to the commencement of proceedings
to annex certain territory contiguous to the City of West -Covina on. -the north.
Mayor Hurst: Mr. 'City Clerk, do you have the necessary resolutions and map?
City Clerk: I do, your honor. I also have copies of the notice of this special
meeting signed by the m6mbers.of the City Council here present at least
24 hours before the time set for the hearing.
City Clerk: I have a duly signed petition petitioning the City Council to accept
annexation of this district.
City Clerk read petition asking for permission to commence proceedings and presented
map of the area and legal description of same.
Mayor Hurst: Has this matter been acted upon by the Planning Commission?
City Clerk stated it had been acted upon favorably by the Planning Commission at its
regular meeting of December 21, 1955.
After discussion by the Council, the City Clerk was directed to read Resolution No.
863 "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, ODN-
SENTING 'TO THE PROCEEDINGS FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY
CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY AND IN THE MUNTY OF LOS ANGELES; DESIGNATED AS 'NORTHERLY
ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 139'." Motion by Councilman Kay, seconded by Councilman
Brown, that Resolution No. 863 be adopted. Passed on roll call as follw s:
Ayes: Councilmen Kay, Van Horn, Sperline, Brown, Hurst.
Noes: None
Absent: None
Mayor Hurst: Is there any other business that should come before this Council at
this time?
City Clerk: This meeting was called for the special purpose of considering a petition
to consent to commence annexation proceedings for certain territory
lying north of the City of WestCovina and contiguous thereto, and by law we are not
allowed to consider anything else.
Meeting adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
