South Sunset Avenue asking that no service road (Soo from Francisquito� be constructed. in front of properties, 1704 through Referred to City Eng. 1779 S. Sunset Ave. It was further recommended bN petitioners that rnoney in lieu of proposed ex- penditure for this service road be used.to pave Sunset Avenue to its full width. Motion by Councilman Sperline, seconded by Councilman Brown and carried that this matter be referred to the City Engineer. City Clerk further stated., that this particular location had been checked into and that the reactio:r of the business people along Glendora. Avenue was that this would be in direct competition with them if other iterns beside:! the Christaaza.s trees were perrni.tted to be sold from this lot. " Mayor Hurst - "I still feel that our own Planning Department can carry on the work without having a hired consultant on a monthly retainer. Van Horn, that the service contract of Whitnallll & Associates be terminated subject to the provisions of the contract as to termination.. Glendora Ave. stated that he was not prepared for the denial of retail sale of playground equipment, slides and related Christmas items which had been in addition, to request for sale of Christmas trees and stated that playground equipment could not be displayed inside of a building. Councilman Kay - "I think our koning Ordinance and Business License Ordinance states what has to be done in regard to office space and other items to conduct certain types of business. The type of business you wanted to operate ADJ.. CC. 11-7-55 -7- wa.s of a nature that required some type of permanent structure to do this. If what you are applying for falls under our present Business License and Zoning Ordinance and there hasto be some sort of -pe:rmanent building I do not see any reason to reconsider this den -aria However, if you can taut in this type of business without anything of this nature then perhaps you have grounds to question this decision. of Meeting adjourned at 8:45 P; M.
