CITY OF IAEST COVINA, CALIFOPE1A June 15, 1954 Meeting called to order at 7:1.0 P,M. at the West Cowins. City Hall, Present: Councilmen Hurst, Kay, Van Horn, Browns S perline Absent: None Others: City Engineer, City Clerk FREEWAY REPORT Councilman Kay and Pity Engineer reported on meeting held with Sunset Avenue the State Division of Highvays concerning request for clover- leaf at Sunset Avenue intersection with the freeway. The Highway Division will provide drawings for an off -ramp at this intersection, for re- view by the City of West Covina. TRACTS NO. 20157 & 20158 Consideration was given to the extent of the Citya s CAMERON AVENUE; EXTENSION participation in the proposed extension of Cameron Avenue in connection with Tmet Nos. 20157 and 20158. City Engineer was instructed to contact State and County Departments to see what aid can be secured for these improvements; and was also instructed to secure a bond from the subdivider for installation of concrete curb and gutters and all improvements except the pavement between gutters on proposed extension of Cameron Avenue. PARKING C-3 BUSINESS AREA Councilman Sperline read report of Mr. Ted Robinson of Gordon Whitnall & Associates, analyzing parking and submitting alter- nate plans for parking in the-C--3 business area. Various ,plans were considered, in- corporating the ideas of Council members. A plan was agreed cipon and on motion by Councilman Van Horn, seconded by Councilman Kay, and carried, City Engineer and City Administrator were instructed to proceed in the fastest manner possible in accomplish- ing this plan. • NAME FOR CAMERON PARK Mayor Hurst read .report of the Park and Recreation Commission APPROVED submitting three names for the park at Lark Ellen and Cameron Avenues, as follows: Memorial Park, Lark Men Park, Cameron Park. Motion by Councilman Sperline, seconded by Councilman Brown, and carried, that this park shall be officially named "Cameron Park." MEETING OF City Administrator advised the Council that the next LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES meeting of the League of California Cities will be held at Gardena, on June 17, 1954. -1® ADd 6-15-54 -2- OORTL2 PARK & I Motion by Councilman Sperline, seconded by Councilman FIRE DEUR1MENT - Kay, that City Administrator be authorized to spend up MUDITUBE AUTHORIZED to 61,999.00 for required work in connection with the Fire Station at Cortez Park. Passed on roll call as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Kay, Ban Horn, Broun, Sperline, Hurst. Noes: None Absent: None ACTION BY FI.ANNING CMISSIUN City Administrator presented and read a letter AREA DISTRICT I -A dated June 14, 1954, signed by Mr. C. Ae Plummer, Mr. Harold E. Almlie and Mr. W. S. Hardy, request- ing that the City Council convey the signers' thanks to the Planning Commission for their handling of the Area District IA petition. OCCl3FIED LVE IJNGS City Administrator read a report from the Census Bureau advising that at the time of the special census in May, there were 5,852 occupied dwellings in the City of west Covina.
