and that the votes cast in favor of the adoption of each bond proposition were
less than two-thirds of all the voters voting upon each of said propositions, each
of said bond propositions failed to carry.
Motion by Councilman Van Horn, seconded by Councilman Delay,, that Resolution No.
535 be adopted. Passed on roll call as follows:

EIZCTION CF MAYOR City Attorney announced this is the time for appointment
of mayor, and Mayor Furst announced nominations are now
In order for mayor for the City of West Covina for the next two years. Councilman
Van Horn nominated Mayor Hurst; Councilman Kay nominated Gouncilmn Sparline.
There being no further nominations, nominations were closed. Reeulty of written
ballot were as follows:

Mayor Hurst being reelected by majority vote, meeting adjourned at S.-05 P.M.

I, ROBERT FLOTTEN, City Clerk of the City of West
Covina, California, DO HEREBY CERTIFY AND DECLARE that the
. City Council of the City of West Covina, at an adjourned
regular meeting duly held on the 20th day of April,,1954,
has duly and regularly canvassed the returns of the special
bond election held in the City of West Covina on April 13,
1954, pursuant to Ordinance No. 300, and has declared the
result of said election.
That the bond propositions voted upon at said
election are as follows:
BOND PROPOSITION NO. 1: Shall the City
of West Covina incur a bonded indebtedness
in the principal sum of $60,000 for the pur-
pose of the acquisition and construction by
said city of a certain municipal improvement,
to wit: the acquisition of two park sites'
and the improvement thereof as city parks?
BOND`PROPOSITION NO. 2: Shall the City
of West Covina incur a bonded indebtedness
in the principal sum of $175,000 for the pur-
pose of the acquisition and construction by
said city of a certain municipal improvement,
to wit: a municipal swimming pool or pools
together with dressing and locker rooms,
showers, and other.related facilities,
including the acquisition of all furniture,
furnishings, equipment, apparatus and other
property necessary therefor?
That the absent voter ballots have been duly
canvassed and counted, and the result of such count is
hereinafter stated. That the total number of votes cast
in each of the respective election precincts established
for said election upon each of said propositions, and the
number of votes therein for and against each of said
propositions, the total number of absentee votes cast at
said election upon each of said propositions and for and
against each of said propositions, and the total number
of votes cast in said city upon each of said propositions
and for and against each of said propositions, are as
follows:
