REPORT OF C0111ITTEE Councilman DtLay announced the committee appointed to GARBAGE & REFUSE COLLECTION study garbage and refuse collection in the City is not yet ready to report,, PROGRESS REPORT City Administrator reported that because of the recent INSTALLATION OF NEW PARKING rainy weathers,, work on the new parking lot and repair FACILITIES of the present parking lot had been held up,, but that work is schedmIed to progress as soon as Breather permits, REPORTS OF CONAISSIONJJP,S Fire Commissioner DeLay recommended the installation on the new pickup truck for use of the Fire Department,, a radio,,, siren and rid lights. He also recommanded increasing the number of volunteer firemen by six,, in order to have volunteers avaylable in tLe daytime. He also raaare- mended that some thought be given to adjustment of salaries of Fire Department person- nel in order to make them more cceparable to the Police Dapa tnent. In connection with the recommendation for equipment to be installed on the note truck,, Police Commissioner Van Horn recommended that the siren a'nd radio from the police car which is to be replaced be turned over to the Fire Department to fill their require- ments,, and that a new combination siren and loud speelier be purchased for the new police car. City Administrator was requested to check into costs and report on this matter. City Administrator also advised that the State Highway Department has been requested to check into the traffic situation on Garvey Boulevard with respect to recent acci- dents in an effort to see what can be done to help this situation. Park and Recreation Commissioner Sperline announced that progress is being made in working out the agreement necessary between the County School District and the City. With regard to the City?s appointee to the Park and Recreation Commission,, since Mro Flotten is now an ex officio representative,, Mayor Hurst appointed Mr. Floyd Galvin to be the City®s representative on thi.s.Comnission. Mayor Hurst also requested the City Administrator to arrange a meeting between the City Council and the Park and Recreation Ccam}i.ssion during the early part of January.
