MEETING OF June 16, 1948
Meeting.called to order by Mayor King at,9:00 P.M..
Present Mayor King, Councilman DeLay, Hurst, Van Horn.
`Absent:. Councilman Mossberg
Also Present:.Harold Johnson, Eugene Riggs-, City Treasurer Mrs.
Sayers,.and.J.C. Nichols.
The minutes of she meeting'of June 9, 1949 read and approved.
The reading of the ordinance granting a franchise to the Southern
Ca.lifornia.Edison'Company was again•postponed until
..the next regular meeting of June 23, 1949.
.Upon motion by Councilman Hurst, seconded by. Councilman Van Horn,
an application for •Zone: Variance No. 1 was granted
for R3 use and the City Attorney was directed to
prepare, an ordinance amending ordinance No 147,
and also directed the City Engineer to prepare
change ,in Zoning Map. of the City of West 'Covina
and to transmit a.copy to the City Attorney.
Upon motion by Councilman Van Horn, seconded by Councilman Hurst
and carried,'an. application for Zone Variance #2
was granted, subject to 01 use only and.the area
not used for the .building purposes be used for off
street parking. The `City was directed to prepare
an ordinance amending ordinance No. 147, and the
. City Engineer was directed to prepare change in
Zoning map of the ' City. 'of .West Covina and to transmit
a copy of same to the City Attorney..
Resolution No..,137i a resolution to accept street improvements in
_ tract No. •12795, with the exception that fire
'hydrants have not been installed in accordance with
the approved plans of said tract, therefore, said
subdivider of said tract be required to pay to the
City the amount of $434.24 for having failed'to
complete 'said improvements. Other improvements
having been completed, the subdivider asks that
:bond filed. with .the City guaranteeing completion
of -said improvements be released to said subdivider.
It was moved.by Councilman Hurst, seconded by Councilman Detay,
and.carried that resolution No. K be adopted.

It was moved by Councilman DeLay, seconded by Councilman
Hurst and carried that Floyd Gelvin be instructed to
write fidelity bond for City Treasurer, Mrs. Sayers,.
in the .amount of $25,000.,00*.
It was moved.by Councilman Hurst, seconded -by Councilman
appropriated
Van Horn, and carried that fundsheretofore
for the use of the Planning Commission in employing of
a Consultant be withdrawn for the Period on and after
August 1, 194-9
Upon Motion by Councilman Hurst, seconded by Councilman DeLay
and Carried, -the Mayor, City Clerk, Citj Treasurer and
City Auditor, any combination of two of the above be
authorized to open the safe deposit box at the Covina
National Bank.
